    ... the ride quite a few cheese makers or Fromageries along the mountain road. No wonder, beautiful lush green pastures abound as well as the tingling of the distant cow bells.

    After 22km of struggle, I finally made it to the top. Only 1500m this sucker...don't know how I'm going to manage the 5052m during the Etape....hopefully I'll find some energy and strength somewhere.......or adrenalin!!

    ... I am a little nervous and really can't imagine what's going to happen over the next 5 hours.

    Off we go along the flat road towards Bourg d'Oisans. It's all very real. Then it's that left hand turn to Alpe d'Huez; A stop at the 0km for a photo and then off,. Starting the climb and I'm quickly down through the gears but I'm going OK, then around the first turn and it gets steeper so I change down again but no more gears left.
