    ... not in the annoying ironic way I was planning on enjoying it from.

    There is a lot more to instant ramen than just some noodles in a bag or cup (the cup o noodles was one of Ando's great inventions). Anyway, mostly everything was in Japanese, but I'm sure it told the heartwarming story of a plucky Japanese scientist who figured out how to preserve noodles by frying them and thus helped Japan during periods of post-war scarcity.     ... an empty market that was full of rats scurrying around as well as cockroaches. When we got back to the hostel, the owner lent me a pair of her sandals until the next day when I could buy another pair but didn`t end up having time to do, so I got stuck with my running shoes.     ... cut dragon fruit for dessert! Sumptuous! A short time after lunch we made our next stop at a brick making factory on the banks of the river. We were fairly disinterested in this if I'm honest (not helped by having to stand in front if boiling hot furnaces in a country where the natural heat was already almost unbearable for us!) but we begrudgingly took the tour all the same.     ... all of the border control info in Vietnamese and then English, while also filling out all of our forms for us! This made our first border crossing of the trip very relaxed.
