We sailed to Patmos from Lipsi - a larger and religiously endowed island with monastaries and ancient caves. Our tour here is mostly a bus tour, but taking us to the Grotto of the Apocalypse where John the Evangelist is claimed to have written the book of Revelations in 95 AD. It includes a collection of 33 pages of the Gospel of St Mark inscribed in the 5th century on purple vellum.
