We sailed to Patmos from Lipsi - a larger and religiously endowed island with monastaries and ancient caves. For a couple of days we tied up at the town wharf, not many yachts but cruise boats with the hoards looking at the Chora on the hill. Our tour here is mostly a bus tour, but taking us to the Grotto of the Apocalypse where John the Evangelist is claimed to have written the book of Revelations in 95 AD. It includes a collection of 33 pages of the Gospel of St Mark inscribed in the 5th century on purple vellum.
