There's no place like home

ahhh! It's been so long since I've written something.
I had been really busy with work. Everyday from 8-5:30. And I was still teaching English classes some nights.
I'm finally back in the states. Visiting for a month. Then it's back to Costa Rica January 4th.
Completely in reverse culture shock! I can't believe I'm back. Everyone speaks English. I keep accidentally kissing people on the cheek when ...

Nearing the end of our Cedarlane Summer!

... more frequently is uploading photos to my FaceBook page - usually a quicker process than TravelPod's has been.

Today's my last day of work - and this afternoon is Cedarlane's Halloween Celebration, so I'm all gussied up as Gypsy Rose (not the stripper - the gypsy!!). I figure a Gypsy is a good costume for me, as I'm so excited about getting back on the road again tomorrow!

Cedar Point Amusement Park

Cedar Point Amusement Park is located on the beautiful shores of Lake Erie in Sandusky, Ohio. It is the land of fun and thrills with over 75 rides and attractions. Cedar Point offers the best in roller coaster thrills.

There's lots for kids also. In fact, a section of the park called "four kids' areas" offers 30 rides and attractions for "just their size". These shots were taken especially for our nieces and nephews.

Put-In-Bay (Battle of Lake Erie)

On September 10, 1813, Commodore Oliver Hazaard Perry defeated and captured a British squandron of warships at the Battle of Lake Erie. The battle, fought during the War of 1812, secured control of Lake Erie for the United States and enabled General William Harrison to conduct a successful invasion of Western Upper Canada.

The memorial commemorates Perry's defeat but more importantly it celebrates the lasting peace between the United States and Canada.

... very oddly shaped - we excited to be there. Before we entered we shared a hamburger and chips. A pretty great first impression when you walk in. When you are line to pay they snap your photo with a cool guitar so you can buy it later and we did! We spent numerous hours there viewing the 7 floors and we probably spent the most time in their store - it was huge and a lot to see and buy - $200 bucks later we were out ...

Bellevue, Ohio to Lincoln, Nebraska

Miles driven: 810
Wildlife seen: 3 Deer (Oh boy!)

Highlights: Uhmmmmm..... Not necessarily a highlight but we must have passed a bazillion stalks of corn while driving. Actually, nothing too exciting today, we just racked up a "few" miles on the truck getting from point A to point B. Luckily, we had great ...

More Cedarlane Views

Just wanted to upload some more pictures of our life and times around Cedarlane RV Park. We're both working LOTS of hours (~40/week apiece), which is more than we had expected...but it will certainly help the finances, which is why we're doing what we're doing!

More Area Exploration - Marblehead Lighthouse

... that the tourist season hasn't yet begun, we weren't able to take an official tour (not sure that climbing that many steps would be a good thing, anyhow!), but we enjoyed the outside of the lighthouse and the pretty park surrounding it. Of course - I took lots of pictures

All Around Port Clinton

... leafless, erect stalk
topped with a solitary flower. All individuals within a given population tend to bloom about the
same time, producing the spectacular effect of a golden blanket
across the rocky landscape. All the flower heads track the sun across
the sky in unison. After about a week, the double notched petals fade
before falling.
We were lucky enough (totally by accident!) to be there during their single blooming week!

Prehistoric Forest

... wooden barrel. We discovered upon purchasing our admission tickets that portions of our adventure would be guided. I prefer to go it alone in the wilderness, live off my wits, but sometimes you have to accept the experience of others, especially in a forest populated by dinosaurs. Our guide was a thirteen-year-old boy in a Prehistoric Forest t-shirt adorned with airbrushed artwork from the early 1980s. He sported a bushy mane of tangled blond hair that made him look ...
