      About a ten minute walk away from our apartment is Munich's famous Englischer Garten. At first glance I can immediately tell we are going to spend a lot of time there. It's packed with winding trails and surprises behind every corner. Beer gardens are scattered throughout the park, each different in their own way.

      ... and I order a stein of beer, which is 1L and lunch. Was relaxing as we ate lunch and slowly consumed the 1L of beer. We did have a little room left for desserts, so we shared an apple strudel. After lunch we wondered the streets of Munich for a little, trying to get our bearings where we were.       ... those who don't surf just strip off and sunbathe in the nude in this park. Lunch in Viktualienmarkt, an outdoor gourmet market in the city centre followed by a drink in the Hofbrauhaus where you can see Bavarian men in traditional dress, often with interesting facial hair. Fortunately we just missed Octoberfest, which saw 7 million visitors in town, who drank on average 10litres of beer each, combined I'm sure with a lot of bad behaviour.
