I found a couple of reasonable souvenirs among the stores offering traditional Cretan artwork, copies of pieces from different archaeological museums, jewelry and embroidery. And Yahoo! I found an ATM ...

... no supermarkets, no shops, nada! By this stage we were starving as well, so the kind man who ran the hotel took pity on us and loaned us his car to take into the "nearby" village.... which was pretty much deserted. Sigh. We bought a loaf of bread, a tomato, some cheese and some ham, which was to be our dinner, and then our breakfast and lunch for the next day.<br><br>We decided one night in solitude was more than enough for both of us so packed up our gear ...

Yesterday we got up at 5am in order to catch our plane from Santorini. Most of our group was on the same plane , so we said our sleepy good byes. We flew on Aegean Air which has nice new planes. We went to Athens and then basically retraced the short flight by flying to Crete. ... was magic but the cocktails were dreadful. Kevin&#8217;s martini had ouzo in it but the barman refused to do another. Chris&#8217; margharita seemed to be alcohol free and Milly&#8217;s Manhattan didn&#8217;t taste very good. So we moved to Axos for more drinks &#8211; this time excellent, and then to our favourite eating place, Yannis, for dinner. The drinks and food there were superb too and they gave us free cheese pies and raki (as if we needed more booze). Nice.

... ago whemn it said it was still delayed! So we rushed towards our gate (of course first through security) and me making some impressive acrobatic moves trying not to fall with my slippery flipflops on the marble stones. ... was the right decision for me! I got here and it was just after 7 chris the manager gives me a big hug LINDSEY! adn then says honerary shot! we have to do a shot of Raki at 720 in the morning! In this hotel my family and another 3 foreign family were attacked by thief's over the last night just few hours to go home, I was more than disappointing about the security in this place, about the reaction of the authorities and also the attitude of the hotel manager. The police has no reaction and the hotel manager doesn't want to get in contact with me when I informed about the theft , latter one when I succeed to get his e-mail address he went to the Police ...

... sought off on their own and we did run into them at the open market. It was quaint but we didn't have enough time to see the island. Samantha Brown mentioned on her travel show that the port town was nothing to write home about and she was correct. The beauty of the island according to her was on the other side. Someday we may get there but if we don't it won't be the end of the world.<br>

Through a series of unfortunate events, this is the sole remaining picture of our magical day in Crete. In all of my genius I deleted the Crete and Turkey photos by accident and boy was that ever a sad day. Of course the first thing I did after getting home from the cruise was upload the Sbux series to Facebook, so now the Starbucks photo is the only one left of Crete :(
