Somehow, I found the Travel Insider web site and the package featured several things that sounded appealing - discounts, add-ons, a great itinerary, and a cruise company that we had used before & enjoyed very much. I also spoke to the "host" - the Travel Insider himself - and found him to be pleasant, well-informed, and enthusiastic about the trip.

An auspicious start, I thought.

Breakfast again at the comfort in and then checkout about $160 US for two nights including Breakfast we enjoyed our stay.

... some good color. We went to this cute Italian restaurant that night called Cucina Rosa. Both mom and I had this amazing Mediterranean shrimp dish. Tons of garlic though, let's just say we could have kept any vampires in a 5 mile radius at bay that night. We then did some souveneir shopping and got some ice cream.

I was ready to make the turn into the Cape May canal but was held up by a very large ferry about ready to leave the narrow channel. I hail the cap on the radio and hear...."small trawler, I would stand off....we both cant make it". OK, he wins.

Monday morning we said our goodbyes to Karen and Allen and set off across country to Cape May, at the southern tip of New Jersey, where we were meeting up with more friends - Ken from Boston and Diana from Cape Cod.

Despite the big distance Ken and Diana have to travel, we all arrived within 15 mins of each other at the little house we are renting -so we open a bottle of wine to celebrate before heading to the local supermarket to stock up on ingredients ...

... He pulled into the one open space in their tiny parking lot. We noticed a spot on the side street opening up, looked for any signage to indicate any parking limitation of which there were none and pulled in. After partaking in what I'll generously describe as a "dissappointing" fried-to-death, poor service, seafood experience we discovered not one but two neon red tickets on our windshield. ... that exciting although we did get to stop and get Chipotle with one of my best friends Justin, who now lives in NC. When I realized that we were close to his town I called him up and we were surprisingly only a few minutes down the road. Leah was also interested in looking into graduate school so it was a convenient pit stop along the way. We arrived into Atlanta around 1 a.m. and happily crashed. The signs for a town called Kannapolis cracked me up everytime.

Labor Day. Three Day Weekend. NEW JERSEY SHORE. Woohoo! My parents drove down from Northern Jersey. Silke and I drove up from Washington, DC. The weather was perfect. It was a nice chance to relax in the sun and surf.

Nach kurzer Pause am Strand gehte es weiter nach Atlantic City wo wir am Capgroung 5 min vor "Office Closed" ankommen. Wir planen das Erstemal zu grillen und kuafen noch Rost & Co, nachdem wir uns unterwegs mit Steaks, Saucen und Getränken - Alkohol gab es nur im Spezialgeschäft - versorgt hatten.
