    ... up close, although we did not realize who that very elegant lady was until we saw her picture later. This happened at the Rijksmuseum. I guess it is proper to say "former" queen since she abdicated last year in favor of her son, the present king, William Alexander and his wife, Queen Maxima. They have three young daughters, so there is another queen in waiting. Tomorrow we are off to The Hague and Ghent. Hope all is well with you. ...

    ... van came in and about 11 young men got out all with cans in their hands and in shorts! They were there to put up a marque which they did but soon after they had completed it the winds came and by the evening the camp owner came and dismantled it.     ... really huge tulips on display as well, very pretty. Walked to the 'observation point' for the 'tulip' fields, what a joke. There is absolutely didily squat!! Have taken photo of the map with the strips indicating rows of beautiful tulips just to underscore the irony. Absolutely must come back another year at some point later in April.     ... cool and unfriendly response, we drove off direction train station. We said goodbye to Ellen and Gerard and thanked them very much for everything they did for us - A LOT! We will see them again briefly at the end of our trip and for sure again in Canada on June 13!
