After leaving Vienna we crossed the width of Austria, past Salzburg and head north for Munich and our 3rd visit into Germany. We'll be back here for the Oktoberfest in about 6 weeks so this visit was brief and a quick chance for some shopping and to scope out a campsite for the van when we return.

I had planned to visit Neuschwanstein Castle on my own by catching the train from Munich, however on the bus into the city yesterday we were offered a tour with the company Mike's Bike Tours. This is the same company that I did my bike tour in Amsterdam and I had heard that they were famous in Munich which is where the company originally started...Munich, Bavaria, Germany emmafox

Today after a great night at the roadside stop we saw the best and worst of Germany, the Porsche factory and Dachau. We enjoyed the roadside stop -plenty to see and do, including 3 poker machines which Elle hasn't worked out how to use but put a mouse in a maze with a piece of cheese and you know what will happen! We left Fussen and headed for Neuschwanstein Castle. It's one of King Ludwig's famous castles. Although the day was pretty yucky, the weather at least held off for the 30 minute walk up the hill & back down again after the tour.
