Atlantis Vilamoura

I have just returned from Vilamoura, staying at the Atlantis Hotel for 11 nights as a group of 3 adults. I was slightly concerned with the choice of hotel after reading the reviews on this website. However I need not have worried, all the staff in the hotel were very friendly and helpful. The room we stayed in had 2 double beds, a balcony facing out to sea and a well presented bathroom, the room was cleaned daily and clean sheets, towels etc were changed almost daily.

The grounds within the hotel are extensive and well maintained. The swimming pools both indoors and out are kept very clean throughout the day and there is an attendent present.

The evening entertainment within the hotel caters for the older person, but there is another bar where you can sit and have a quiet drink. There are also other entertainments planned thrughout the day should you choose to participate and there was also lots for children to do, including their own pool.

The food within the hotel was good, the choice at breakfast was vast and well presented. The evening buffet was adequate but the presentation could be improved as this is classed as a 5* hotel.

Overall we had a very relaxing, enjoyable holiday and would stay at this hotel again in the future.

Stayed for 9 nights in June and tend to agree with recent posts that the hotel is not really a five star, most probably rate it as a four. It does look a little tired and has an air of 70s about it's decor. There are numerous deals to be had looking at various hotel booking sites. We booked direct online and obtained a 20% discount (154 euros for a very large two double bedded room and breakfast) so the price is also what you might expect of a four star. Seems a shame but clearly some of the facilities the hotel used to provide were either closed or are no longer provided (e.g. roof top bar/terrace, pool swim up bar).

Having said that, there was plenty of space in the gardens around the pool (which we found to be clean), no shortage of sunbeds and the staff were all very helpful.

Why oh why do they spoil this lovely hotel by poor pool maintenance.

The outdoor pools are dirty and unchlorinated.

We have seen frogs swimming, they would not go near a chlorinated pool.

We would love to stay again but please, please, clean and maintain the outdoor pools.

Best Bar and Bar Staff in Vilamoura

this hotel is definately not a 5 star hotel more 4 or a very good, the food was poor more like schoool dinners. we were ther christmas day no turkey!!

the rooms were clean..nothing special, the pool had lots of green things floating it! but other than a clean hotel!

Having booked the Atlantis we then read some of the reports with trepidation. We needn't have worried.

We found this hotel to be nice and by and large, friendly. Yes it is a bit care worn but we enjoyed our stay. The indoor pool was particularly enjoyable as it was open until 2000 and we enjoyed quite a few floodlit swimming sessions.

We went to the Atlantis at the beginning of October and found the staff to be friendly and helpful. We only had breakfast during our stay but found this to be plentiful and varied though sometimes the bacon and/or eggs could have been warmer. You could have eaten from 7.30 until 1000 if you had wanted. The rooms were of a decent size and included two double beds, a balcony (with sea view) large bathroom with two sinks. The rooms were kept spotlessly clean by the maid who was often to be seen down on her hands and knees cleaning the floor.

We stayed in two different rooms on our stay as on the second night we were kept awake by people outside the adjacent casino who were playing loud music. A complaint to the hotel resulted in us moving to the other side of the hotel immediately and the police being called to silence the offenders. Apparently it can be a problem on certain nights. The air - conditioning and fridge in the first room worked perfectly but in the second they were not so good.

To sum up, we enjoyed our stay in a nice but careworn hotel which did have rather a lot of older residents but when you consider what we paid on our late booking and what we got for our money it was very good value with two pools (towels supplied every time), putting, tennis, indoor bowls, sauna etc. We would have no hesitation in going back next year.

Oh by the way after we went to Ruis the second time, got no choice at the carvery and poor service we gave it a miss for the rest of the holiday.

We found Vilamoura to be clean and friendly with a nice beach for those who needed one.

Only to say that the service is null, food poor, rooms old.

Not a 5 stars maybe a old 2 stars hotel.

The hotel claims to be a five-star property, but this should be taken with a somnewhat large pinch opf salt. Essentially there is nothing wrong with the hotel - good location and yes, the rooms are reasonably spacious, but they are worn. This is particularly the case for the bathrooms. I would rate them as a three-star property. Given the excellent deals you can get here (I paid 60 Euro for a double) I would give it a go, as long as you are aware that the standard isn't all you might expect..

we have been here 3 times because we like it so much. Spacious rooms, great buffet meals - quality and choice of meals wonderful and very spacious grounds for sunbathing - never crowded even when hotel is full.

This was the worst hotel, after one night I checked out and due to lack of support from the local rep I was forced to pay for 7 nights in the Dom Pedro 4*.

the atlantis hotel was really lovely and plesant really nice with kids and the breakfasts were nice to entertainment was rubbish but if u want good entertainment go to rui's bar
