Atlantis Rising St. Thomas

I just did some sightseeing this afternoon. Here's a hint if you're coming here within the next year or so. Don't bother to go see, "The World Famous MountainTop!!!" (Just check my pictures)

I went snorkeling again right here at the resort, Now ready for a nap! I really enjoy the snorkeling, but after a couple hours of that, I’m pooped! There are several things I would like to check out before leaving St. Thomas, but the fish peeping has really become a favorite, so that has priority! (I still haven’t seen the “best” beach on the island.)

Getting up at 2:30 to drive to Bangor and travel on planes until 2 this afternoon has taken it's toll. I,m TIRED!. Chel & Kenny were waiting for me at the airpiort and took me to my "home" for the next week. I had decided not to rent a vehicle, but the more I think about it, the more I think I will. (Just a lot nervous about driving on the "wrong" side of the road!) The plan for tomorrow is to go sailing.

Finally we found the owners very easy to work with. They live in the UK and we managed the business side of the rental over the Internet and via FedEx. I was a bit nervous about managing such a transaction, with private individuals, over the Internet; but I took a leap of faith and it paid off. The owners ...

We arrived at St. Thomas and our day excursion would be a tour of the island with a professional photographer. She would take our group to various locations where we could get a good photo-shooting opportunity. She would also give us advice and tips on taking pictures using our cameras. The last six of my 170 hours on South American buses were spent crossing the snowy Andes back into Chile. Wendy and I were both flying from Santiago to the warmth of Florida but we were on different flights as I had got mine with frequent flyer miles. Wendy managed to get a direct flight but I had the pleasure of a lengthy layover in Atlanta and so 24 hours later I made it to Fort Lauderdale just in time for a magnificent thunder ...

St. Thomas, like all caribbean islands, requires care with the sun: the thermometer may read only 80 degrees fahrenheit, but the glare and burn factor is very serious. For bargains in jewerly, go to old town; hats and dresses, go to the shops near the cruise ship docks.
