Historical Traveler Reviews Atlantis Las Lomas Puerto Del Carmen

    Excellent Value, Very Good Location

    from lallybrooky

We booked our accommodation (A 1-Bedroom Apartment) a few weeks in advance and decided on the Atlantis Las Lomas because of it's great location and price.

Firstly, you get what you're paying for and what you get is excellent value for money. The apartments are not the Ritz, but are clean and perfectly adequate.

As it happens, unless you pay much more for one of the hotels located right on the front...wherever you are, you're going to have to climb a hill. The hill up to the Atlantis Las Lomas is quite steep but much shorter than if you were staying at an apartment for a similar price such as the Green Oasis, Flora, etc.

There was daily entertainment for a few hours during the day and then some night-time entertainment too. Although we didn't use the daytime entertainment, the children looked as though they were having great fun and the entertainer was very enthusiastic and attentive. We went along and watched the parrot show in the night bar, which was very good and you had an opportunity to buy your picture with the parrots (this was €15 for 2 prints of the picture).

The apartments are ideally located with a short walk to the Biosfera shopping center, the old town and the new town.

When we booked our apartment, we requested one on the First Floor with a view of the sea, which is what we got. We didn't see any cockroaches.

The pool was clean although a bit too cold to venture into, although some brave souls did. There was maid service 5 out of 7 days.

The staff at reception speak excellent English, there are internet terminals at reception and the TV in the rooms have Sky News and Eurosport in English (as well as a selection of channels in other languages).

We found the food at the Lani's chain of restaurants to be very good, but beware of the bread scam. At the beginning of the meal, they'll bring you a bread roll with butter...unless you want to pay €1 per roll, ask them to take it away. If you manage to avoid the bread, the service and food is excellent and they have some Vegetarian dishes too.

We went on three trips on the island, which we booked with Luton's Travel/Last Minute Travel (same company) through reception. We looked around for other tour companies but found that if you didn't want to sit through needless demonstrations in order to get a cheaper price, Luton's Travel/Last Minute Travel were the right company to go for.

The tour to Teguise Market on a Sunday is a must. The market is very big and with a bit of haggling, it's possible to get bargins (beware of the fast food places which don't have prices on the board).

We also went on both the North and South island tours which were very interesting and the €10 (per camel) Camel Ride was another must (this is on the South Tour).

Also, some advice that was passed onto us by one of the Luton's Travel/Last Minute Travel tour guides, which you may or may not be aware of. Be very careful if you're thinking of buying a camera on the Island, all but one of the shops on the main street have police reports against their name because they're selling fake cameras.

We got a taxi to and from the airport and it was only just over €10 and is only 15 minutes or so away.

Unfortunately the film of our camera with pictures of the inside of the apartment and "the hill" has not been developed yet, but I'll add those pictures as soon as they are =)We booked our accommodation (A 1-Bedroom Apartment) a few weeks in advance and decided on the Atlantis Las Lomas because of it's great location and price.

    Quiet and clean

    from anonymous

We went here on 26 jan, OK there are a lot of steps to the back where the apartment was ,But it was clean overlooking pool, even though its January the 2 boys were in the pool within 5 mins of us getting the cases open at 5pm ,although not a lot of entertainment ,what does one expect at this time of year, Daniel ( the Entertainer) did a brill job of keeping the Lads occupied, and the cocktail juggling act by him was impressive too.The hill is a bit of a killer to the shops and sea front, but it kept us all fit The apartment was lacking in a few facilities but all in all a enjoyable and refreshing holiday ,and most probably go back there

    Happy

    from anonymous

I went to these appartments with my partner and found them very satisfactory. There is plenty of room around the 4 pools the entertainment and bar staff were very friendly and we felt at home. The maid came in 5 out of 7 days and have no complaints of dirt or cockroaches. It is on a hill as are most places here but there are steps which make it easier. All round nice place. Maybe because we are a young couple these things are less of a worry. We were very happy.

Excellant value for money good for the kids

    from anonymous

although we were situated at the back of the apartments we enjoyed every bit of the holiday the pools were always clean. reception very helpfull and good entertainment at night we really enjoyed this as our first family holiday and are returning this year in spetmber. the hill is a bit steep but that doean,t matter the holiday more than makes up for it excellant place to visit.

    Had better

    from anonymous

I agree with the previous review you do get what you pay for. The only good side to these apartments were that they were central and had good pools. We got our towels changed twice in the week and the bedding was never changed, we had a one bedroom apartment and one of the beds in the bedroom was no more than a camp bed with a broken middle leg so it sagged in the middle. If i wanted a cheap last minute holiday i would go back to these apartments for the location but definatley not in the school holidays again, it is a bit a let down when you are used to going to 4 star and above however we got what we paid for.

It was ok for what we paid

    from anonymous

We went to lanzarote to visit some friends , I booked this hotel online and it was cheap comparing to what we always book (not less then 4star) But this time I wanted budget holiday. I found it a bit dirty but when you think how much you pay, i felt better. The pools are very nice, the entertainment is as usual Lanzarote standard, so I can say I enjoyed the place and the location is great too. Would go there again if I am after bargain holiday couse you really dont get less then what you pay. Only one night couldn't sleep because the pipes was broken down but things like this dont bother me much as long as they fix it the next day and they did :)

    Heart attack Hole

    from anonymous

Well we arrived in the dark to find that our appartment was at the back of the complex and up several steps, which is not easy when you have 4 cases.

We eventually found out room number but found that there no outside lights to find out where the key should be put but we eventually gained access only to find that the hall light didnt work and I had to crawl around tring to find another light that did work.

The room was very basic and as soon as I lay on the bed, I knew it was not going to be a very comfortable sleep or romantic week.

There were two single beds which I think they had from Hi Di Hi camp, and they were provided with one pillow each which vanished into nothing when your head was placed on.

On awaking to the sound of workmen doing renovations on the appartments behind us, we found that the kettle leaked.

I must say that the pools provided at the complex were a plus but this was the only thing going for the place.

The hill to and from the front is a killer and is locally known as Heart attack Hill, not suitable for those who cant walk??...more like only suitable for moutaineerers.

Very poor service from First Choice and although we were only 10 mins drive from the airport, it took our coach driver nearly an hour to get there

Entertainment poor and the bar is a bit lacking in design, as they used a half cut door for the bar door.

    My recommendations are...DONT GO

    Wildlife for free

    from 00Ness

I stayed in these appts in 2002 and it does'nt seem to have improved. We had 1 studio & 2 x2 bedroomed appts for 9 adults. The cockroaches would climb up from behind the beds and run all over you while you slept or tried to! No amount of spraying helped, we were told no other acommodaton available so had to put up with it. Like the previous writer our rooms were dirty, the studio flooded and smelt when you showered and the reps did not want to know. This was the first and only time I have gone with a tour company as i always book private appts that are excellent and in a great location but that year I booked too late. Anyway don't be put of the Island we have been going on a girly week for the last 10yrs and are off again next week. I would never recommend the Atlantis Las Lomas.

Ideal for Families, and excellent location.

    from genuinegal

Myself and my partner stayed here in September 16th 2004 for 1 week. We understood from booking our holiday, 4 months prior......that we had booked a studio apartment, however, we certainly did not expect the studio apartment to be of an awful standard.

We had a list of 10 problems to do with our studio apartment ranging from it's location (RIGHT at the back of the complex, tucked away with a view of a dirty, dilapidated run down building, next to an entry with loads of rubbish all over the place). 2 twin camp beds of different heights (if we were an old couple i wouldnt mind). The smell of sewage in our bathroom every minute, every day - the smell was apalling. Everytime we got a shower, it flooded the bathroom ..into the bedroom area as the shower curtain was too short for the 'small' shower tray. The walls were painted (about 10 years ago) in 2 different sunny yellow colours, right across the middle of the walls, with lots of dirty scuff marks all over the place. Lights didnt work, and the security was pretty bad.

We went with First Choice, and rep was far from helpful (her name was Kathryn). We complained the first day we got there, and she advised us there was NOTHING else available, but told us to come back the day after, which we did. She told us that there might be something available on the monday (we arrived the thursday), but that was no good for us as we were only there 1 week. So, we had to basically put up with an excuse for an studio apartment. Oh yes, she offered us an upgrade to another complex called Club Playa , but asked us to pay 140 for the week!!!! We refused of course, and made an official complaint when we got back home (we took pics, which is advisable if you want to make a complaint), still waiting for outcome....

Basically, don't book the STUDIO (designed for 2 people only) as you'll end up next to a noisy entry were the bins get emptied 6am in the morning, with a awful view ).

We had to laugh on the last day.....as soon as people were leaving to go back home - they got th decorators in because there were that many complaints about the decor etc!!!!

Apart from that, great location and if you are lucky to get apartments (3 or more beds) with a pool view...you are VERY lucky!!!

FANTATSIC FOR FAMILY AND YOUNG CHILDREN

    from anonymous

We have been here for 2 weeks july 2004-aug and was really fab, excellant rooms very very clean maid service brill. the pools {7} so clean .

cant fault the time we had or the place we went with family and grandson was ideal place to take young children to plenty going on the only problem being not the complex but the hill to get to the beach and shops [ANGINA HILL ]

was hard work but familys seemed to cope if you are not to good on walking or have a disability would not recomend.

the place is really so close to the shops beach and everything else the reps with first choice fab works so hard to please you all.

reception very good staff speak english to that helps.

    all rooms have tv good when kids want to watch cartoons whilst you get 5 mins peace hahah {free }

you can hire all the things you need fans iron boards and more dvd vid and films for those nights you cant get out cause kids are tired. have a launderette to !!!

on whole we would rate this place out of 100% with 99% value and service for money.

is very hot in july makes sure you get loads factor 60 for kids.

    have a great time
