    ... been naughty taking their photo but they were enjoying life so much I couldn't resist. Its been a lovely day and at the moment Kerry is chief chef and has made rissoles without flour, as we have none and has just had to make do with whats in the cupboard. He has done a fine job. I have to tell you about French supermarkets. I start to salivate as I enter as there is so much choice and its all so delicious. So many cheeses, meats, salamis, ...

    ... roads and scenery got more interesting, too. We passsed by a very pleasant lakeshore that was chock-a-block with campgrounds on our way to Biscarosse. We didn't see the ocean despite being very close, but that really didn't matter--we'd be there again at the end of the day. There was some very pleasant rolling terrain and nice roads, and a few unpleasant drivers honking at us to get off the nice roads and onto the adjacent bike paths, which we did not do.

    We had a nice opening ride today. about 110kms of flat country. While it was nice to cycle on the flat, it was a bit boring. A lot of it could have been in eastern Ontario with fields of corn and soy.     ... towards the Atlantic coast - so much so that at times it was reminiscent of the prairies; indeed as the edges of the road ahead seemed to merge at the vanishing point one would be forgiven for doubting that we were still actually in France.

    Thought I should take advantage of the free wifi that actually works at this wonderful bar in Biarritz! Wonderful because it's got 20 great beers on tap.. To update from the last entry, a huge thunderstorm in the night meant I had to race out in me shreddies at 6.35am to wind in the awning before I set sail for a second time across the lake in the van.
