Atlantic St Mary's

This morning we went on a trip to Land's End via St Michael's Mount. St Michael's Mount is a small island just off the coast near Penzance with a small village and castle. It's a very picturesque island, despite the grey skies we had today.

Moving right along to Minack theatre, a greek/romanesque ampetheatre stuck to the side of the headland cliffs of Porthcurrno and built in 1923.

Last stop before finding a place to park for the night was Mousehole another very cute village.

We drove through Penzance and found a nice place to park not far from St Michaels Mount. Ready for the next days adventure.

There is a great view of the beautiful cost here and because there is nothing else to do in the area it has been turned into a tourist trap of kitsch and useless **** no one needs. Well we went there. We did not stay very long but we went there. You would have thought that they were giving stuff away. There were loads of people there all trying to spend there money first.

Today I took off to go to Land's End. I thought it might be nifty to go see the western more part of the island. I don't know what I was thinking, maybe that there would be a giant sign advertising the end of the world? "Sail this way --->> and you will drop off the face of the earth." It was definitely a big let down. Yeah I got pictures of the coast line and such, but I guess its not like seeing a really neat castle or other historic monument from days gone by ...

Easter 1999

We arrived at the Cornish Bed & Breakfast late on Thursday evening. It was the Easter weekend and we had come to St Just in Penwith - about as far west as you can get in the West Country. We were staying in the obscurely named Coachhouse Suite, which consisted of a spacious room on the top floor of a converted barn made of the cool grey stone so often used in Cornwall.
