... A bit of a driving day a about 230 km . Dinan a small town on the way , with excellent ramparts, provided an early break from driving , old half timbered houses and a picturesque port made for a pleasant 90 minute stop . Angers , our first stop in the Loire valley , had a chateau with really excellent ramparts 17 towers and a quite acceptable audio guide read by the bloke who does the myth busters voice over. ... down the stairs, it's about 5:30 am and I was praying he would not invite them in, fortunately he told them to go away even though they were bringing us a pot of onion soup to eat. Apparently this is a tradition after parties and in particular weddings where they wake up the newly weds with a hearty onion soup!!!!!
This year was a bit tamer, I was home tucked in bed by 1 and D arrived 3 ish, although he was definitely a little fragile the next day.

... hand I managed to make a lovely plum tart, with the fabulous ready made crust that you can purchase in any supermarket. I especially like the flaky puff pastry without any additives and of course lots of butter. I had to add some fresh peaches to the tarte because I did not have enough plums. Paul harvested our plums (mirabelle ) in July when our two trees were heavy with fruit and then bagged them ...
