This is not a social travel trip, its grad school

... apartment. I’m really trying to be culturally sensitive to that, but Seriously!! Horse meat!! Really people! After realizing that I figured I should make sure I have my translations for meat, because now I’m paranoid I’ll accidently buy it at a grocery store or restaurant, thinking it’s something else.

Nothing else much to report, look for another post after my trip to the Czech Republic.

... grass in the park with a well deserved ice cream. No visit in Vienna is complete unless you have dinner at "figlemuller" whose claim to fame is the world biggest schnitzel, well we will see. My god what they said was an understatement... it is bigger than the plate and we had a hell of a time to finish what was on offer. I do not know how I still manage to lose weight.

Vienna - part 1

... is a very familiar name...she is as popular as a rock star, and her cd's consistently top the charts...

to me Anna Netrebko seems to be the only modern day singer that truly fits the definition of the word "diva" ...she has rich, beautiful voice...she is strikingly beautiful herself...she is a good actress and knows how to spice up the performance...she brings ...

Euro-Roadtrip '09 - Vienna

... 5 hours for the journey. I tried my very best to make it less (read: Speed). However, Austria's highways are monitored like crazy! They have cameras and sensors EVERYWHERE. Once while driving, I saw a flash from one of the boxes, so we think we may have a ticket coming to us. Oops! We probably would have happened, if we didn't need to stop for gas. According to the highway signs we only had 40km left, but the car only had 30km of gas left in it. Plus, when ...

Oh Oh Oh Vienna!!!

... Inspector Rex fans would recognise it immediately) It is being cleaned and renovated at the moment so is covered with scaffolding. After our reccy we returned to the hotel to meet with our tour group. Once again, there are 39 in the group and this time 35 of them are Australians!! At the meeting, Piotor, our guide reminded us, "We are not on holiday we are on the tour" and therefore most mornings the wake up call will come between 6 & ...

I'm That Girl

... just for the fun of it. After a couple hours I hit my hunger limit, so we headed back to the hostel. We hung out at the bar here and had a few drinks and then had dinner at what I think was a Turkish restaurant. I got something with chicken, peppers, tomatoes, and rice that was really good. (Eating leftovers for lunch!) We then headed out to meet up with Adam (from hostel in Prague) for a pub crawl. Drew and Ashley headed home ...

King of Vienna

Imagin walking through endless gardens glancing at magnificent palaces with blue skys and thinking abouth how the kings of the past had strolled around at the very place you are stnding. Vienna was an amazing city with the greatest vibe that i have experianced in any other city in the world. I stayed in model form of the perfect hostel and ...

Vienna 3: Another day, another Starbucks

... this pit. You can look down to see the desheveled pile of bones. The final room had been rearranged by prisoners. To make more room, they unbacked the old bodies out of their coffins and stacked the bones into organized categories. It seriously looks like piles of firewood, and extends ~10 ft upward. Gotta love the Austrian sense of organization...all the femurs are put together, the pelvises are neatly stacked, and the skulls are ...

Home of the Schnitzel! Sat, Sun, Mon

... Apart from the break-in it wasn't too bad. The beds were comfy but the way the rooms were arranged it was noisy and we woke up a few times each night. The place was clean, the kitchen was good, the courtyard was nice. The bar tender was probably the worst in the world ever, at one point Joey waited over 20minutes for one beer because they ran out of glasses and the bar wasn't even crowded! Their internet was really expensive so we went to the hostel next door and used theirs.

On the train to Prague

... impressive. Once we got back to our apartments we decided to go out for a beer at an Irish pub by the boys' apartment. The atmosphere was warm, quite a contrast to the cold outside. After having a delicious Irish beer, Katie and I decided to head home so that we could catch the U-Bahn. We got to the train station at 12:15, but the train going into town had already stopped running. "SHIZA!," exclaimed a young man who had just ...
