We stopped at the port of Corfu. The only way to really get around the island is to take an excursion. At least it was for us. We were going to see a Monastery in the village of Palaiokastritsa and to the village of Gastouri to visit the 19th century Achilleion Palace.
The places were very beautiful and again the excursions didn't disappoint ...

... I struck up a conversation with two cute girls. They were at the tail end of their own Aegean expedition. Mykonos (party island), Santorini (tourist island), and some other one I can't recall. Standard stuff, but then what do you expect from two Canadian college girls with interestingly painted toenails? Mentioned in Greek mythology, Poseidon fell in love with a beautiful nymph and ...

... of making it down alive with only a few scratches up and down my legs and arms! We swam back to the boat and continued our cruise along the coastline. Our second stop was a secluded beach. The water was so clear it looked as if I could touch the bottom, but it was really almost 30 feet deep! After chilling on the beach for awhile we hopped back on the boat and headed to the Pink Palace. Tonight was TOGA night, meaning we all dressed up in hot pink togas and there was ...

... machine, I thought - that must a have been a hell of an thrillride, I must try it :)

After this small detour, fortunately we had no further problems and we soon left the tarmac for some off-road experience. We headed for the north-western part of the island and en route we traversed one of the higher mountains of the island. The view was indescribable: Both of my favourites, Sea and Mountains in one place, intersecting and embracing ...
