We woke up this morning anchored in the middle of a deep blue bay surrounded by tall, volcanic cliffs. This is Santorini! The day started with a boat ride over to the Island. We boarded the bus, met our guide Thia, and started the zigzag path to the top of the mountain. We visited the northern town of Oia, were we saw the beautiful white churches with blue tops that are the pinnacle of ...

... in. So glad we did! By six the castle was packed and not everyone had a seat.

We headed out to look for the restaurant with ...

They look very nice but sure they are more expensive than where we are. Bought some groceries and headed back to the room and fixed a nice dinner and watched the FBI story on television. Interesting movie about J. Edgar and his paranoia.

What a beautiful place and a fantastic way to spend a day! I have always wanted to take that photo of the blue roofed church with the white walls and separate stand alone bell tower that to me encapsulates what the Greek Isles are all about. We arrived here early and caught the tender to Fira and then rode the cable car up the hill to check the town out. From here we caught a local bus (€1.60) to the tip of the island to the little town called Oia - ...
