... we moved to the Agora (means marketplace or gathering place). Here the people of the day gathered for buying, for worship, for court and more. It was truly the center of their lives. Inside the Agora is located the oldest temple in Greece. It is in remarkably good condition. I wasn't entirely blown away by it (although this could be due in part to the fact that so many famous Greek artifacts are being kept by rival museums in other countries!) but Nick and I did enjoy it and as ever found ways to have fun with it. ... almost seems like the heart of athens as it is where you can fina tons of souvenier shops as well as other stores, and tons of authentic greek resturaunts, which really do offer some of the best greek food you could ever hope to try! Next we headed out passed the athens flea market which believe is way bigger then the size of a flea. ... to praise its appearance, I didn’t find it quite that impressive. Outside of the temple itself, there isn’t much in the way of other ruins to explore. Still, its beautiful setting does make it worth visiting. So, if one has a little time in the itinerary and is getting stir crazy looking at the concrete boxes of Athens, then Sounion should be visited. The visitor will get a better appreciation for the tremendous natural beauty that Greece possesses.
