My daughter and I were delighted with Athens Gate Hotel. The location was excellent with a view of the Acropolis from the rooftop restaurant. Looking out over Athens during our lovely breakfast buffet was a highlight of our 3-night stay. Our room balcony overlooked the Temple of Zeus. The room was nice. The staff were extremely helpful and pleasant. We would highly recommend this hotel!

We followed more signs and found a path to the Agora. We spent some
time exploring the ruins before we actually entered the site where our
tickets were examined. There was the excellent Museum of the Ancient
Agora, housed in the Stoa of Attalos,
with lots of busts - some of a later period than Classical Greek, but
          very …

We had a late start this am since I didn't wake up until 8:30 am. It was after nine when we went up to breakfast in the roof restaurant. It was a very good breakfast. I missed the stuffed grape leaves and fruit and some other things but I already had picked up quite enough so thought I would save getting the rest for tomorrow's breakfast. By …

We had a bit of a problem reaching the first museum and were beginning to lose
faith when Kara checked the map again and discovered that we were close. The Museum
had 4 floors of exhibits and an extra exhibition area in their old
building - which Kara had read about - the very ornate yellow building.

When I first saw Athens in 1999, I couldn't believe I was in the CBD. I kept staring out of the taxi's window looking for the shiny skyscrapers. There were none. Just concrete and well-worn buildings of a bygone era.

Today the buildings have aged more than the seventeen years that have past. Many are empty, windows covered by corrugated …

Kara and I were up earlier this morning and made it out before 10 am but we had a lot to pack in. We had another lovely breakfast with a table with an Acropolis view. Today I had a bowl of fruit too. All was good. We lingered a little and then headed out.

I thought perhaps we should do the outdoor things - to get the most from our …
