... 1996. However, the month of May stated to turn against the series. Several cars got airborne and a wreck during the first day of qualifying panicked the series management and they reduced turbocharger boost. The cars also had to qualify in race trim rather than special trim for qualifying. It made the series look bad for making these changes. People started talking that the race would be terrible with these changes!!
