... I then tried to find other ways to entertain myself through the day, such as eating. The Maldives are quite expensive, though, and food is no bargain. Of course, when one is really bored drinking usually provides some relief, but that’s not an option in dry Male. ... named Scott. He looks just like a younger Jack Nicholson. He has an ex-wife and two daughters but now, he's gay. We are the only two gay people as far as I can tell. He calls me Texas and I call him Malibu. Scott is another character. I quietly refer to him as the "name dropper". Others call him, the "hypochondriac". He is the go-to guy for any kind of meds... more so than the doctor. So he walks by our table this morning and I ask him if he's been enjoying the ocean here. He stops ...

Paradise- shark feeding frenzy, peace talks

... a sea turtle! We watched him or her swim lazily around for a few minutes, and then s/he took off into the waters beyond the small arc of light from the pier lamps. For such a large, awkward looking animal, it moves incredibly smoothly and gracefully. As we had watched the turtle, a young couple from Belarus had joined us. "Have you seen the fish and sharks at the end of the pier?", they asked. The WHAT?! So, we wandered down the pier with them, chatting along ...
