Our one day in Paris

... Joan, Patrick and Dan at the restaurant. There was one very large party there, clearly some business function. Dan went around to try to determine the clientele mix and said it was nearly all tourists. Which one might expect from a restaurant with an incredible view of the Eiffel Tower.

One thing we've noticed here is how many English speaking tourists and business people are here. I understand Hilton is going to cater to ...

Paris!

... been another megalomaniac who kind of liked monuments to (you guessed it) himself. Then we walked the entire Champs Elyees.

We did a Paris Sewer Tour. It is indeed a real tour of the actual sewers of Paris. The smell gets to you after a while.

We wanted tour the Saint-Chappell church to see the Actual Crown of Thorns, but the lines were too long.

Now we are getting ready to head to Chartes and the Loire Valley tomorrow.

Christmas in Paris

... as the City of Lights pretty seriously. It has also been living up to the line from the song "I love Paris," "I love Paris in the winter when it drizzles." The sun has been no where to be seen for the past few weeks and my umbrella is being put to good use. All this Christmas feeling in the air has been making me feel a little anxious to get home. I was sitting in a Starbucks between classes one ...

Paris, day 2

... baie uitat. Asa ca, in necajala copilului, plecam fara pernita. Autostrada intins, pana la lasarea noptii. Oprim rupti de oboseala la Saone-Et-Loire, in drum spre Lyon.

Paris: Day 8

... to pay half of the bill (just kidding, honey). OK, by this time I was STARVING, but there were lots of green parks and no cafes/restaurants near Musee Marmottan. So, I took the metro to the real Montmartre, which was a long haul (about 30-40 minutes). The station I got off at was a couple stops north of Gare du Nord, the station I arrived at from the Eurostar. I had been looking forward to visiting Montmartre because of its importance in the ...

Day 13 - Paris

... I wondered how I'd handle going even higher! All the way up I could feel my stomach getting a little queasy and my legs getting weaker. I avoided looking down as we ascended higher and higher. The elevator finally stopped and I stepped off and managed to keep myself standing erect. What a view!! What a long way down!! You will see by the pics when I get around ...

Paris Again

... early or to how much our bags weighed (which was a lot). So only security check point to go, until I realised in my pocket that I had forgot to check in my bag the swiss card (like a swiss army knife but in the shape of a card) and in it a knife. I presented it to the security guard who just waved me through, I got a sharp knife on board!!! But the funny thing was, Dave got stopped because he had a can of coke, weird???? After a short delay we were on the way to Mother Russia, yay.

Au revoire, Paris

... Croatia at 11pm at night instead of 1:30pm. Of course we didn't bother booking a hotel because we figured we'd have no problem finding a room before evening :-) Apparently, our bag was really heavy because it didn't leave Paris, and our other bag stayed to keep it company. And, while we were fruitlessly waiting to claim our luggage, the last bus to Dubrovnik left the airport. Altogether a great beginning for our stay in Croatia, which slowly and reluctantly did get better.)

Paris...........Day 2

... finish it. I was also tempted by the nutella one Megan had but would not have been able to fit it in. We then walked along the streets towards the Champs Elysees stopping at a few places on the way to take pictures. There are lots of great shops along the Champs Elysees, most of them desginer and totally not affordable but I just had to stop at Sephora which I love and buy a few goodies. Some yummy vanilla perfume ...
