Nice's winter arrived yesterday. The moist air around the Riviera produces a special kind of bone-clinging cold that no amount of warm clothes can keep out - even if the thermometer rarely drops below zero. ... the ocean was visible, the scene was honestly unreal. There would be cities right in a bay enclosed by the cliffy mountains, and houses in the most difficult to reach places. The capability of humans to thrive practically anywhere astounds me to no end. It really inspires me to believe that anything is possible. Our drive was long but I didn't close my eyes or more than a second, I don't think I've ever been so awake in fact! Ah - I love Italy! I am so in love ...

Om 9h vertrokken voor een gemakkelijke rit. Opnieuw over het fietspad langs de zee tot aan de monding van de Var. Vervolgens langs de oevers van de Var en na 7 km weer een mooi fietspad van 15 km stroomopwaarts. Op korte tijd werd het water heel vuil.
