But we pressed on and after about 20 mins more we found a nice little reserve on the side of the road for a snack for lunch. We headed south to Burgogne. - or Burgandy as we English call it. A special friend kindly said "ma maison est ta maison". Or as we English say: "my house is your house" !!!! Can you believe it? We were lent a house in the middle of France, a wonderful old farmhouse in a meadow all to ourselves for as long as we wanted! It was very hot and we enjoyed a shaded picnic on a canope along the river below Pont Du Gard on the right bank. The aquaduct was very special as it has 3 levels and carried water in Roman days to cities of Nimes, Orange etc.

... road signs to Bédoin instead of the prescribed route through Montmoiron. It cut a kilometre or two off the total distance for the day which was just fine by me because this was the longest and most difficult day of the trip. I'll have to make a note for future reference.
