... low for the morning and then went out to get some fresh air. We ended up walking up a very large hill to the Basilica Notre Dam. It was beautiful and we could see out across the whole city and the water. And I also just about killed Cortney who was having a very hard time with the whole breathing thing because of her cold. ... and really forced you to reflect on how human behavior can result in genocide and how it can be prevented and resisted more effectively. We finished our tour at a temporary exhibit that displayed the genocide of Rwanda – heartbreaking and eye opening.

Again, not your typical day in Provence, yet an unforgettable experience.

Maria-Lynn supported us in this endeavour by feeding us, helping to look after Eliana and taking the dog for walks as part of her pre-Camino training. Another part of our preparation for the Camino walk, Maria-Lynn & Marc would take excursions on the weekends with Goldie (our Wesfalia camper van) for longer hikes in the Rockies. (See pictures of Aaron, Brodie & Eliana, the renovation and a couple of our hikes)

In the night there was a thunderstorm. Heavy lightning and long, rumbling thunder. Naturally I was worried about the weather in the morning. Jane opened the shutter and a clear blue sky emerged - saved! As we were up before Baguette-Man arrived we had early breakfast and were at the beach early. Mr and Mrs Cosmetic already had their plot staked out but obviously were nowhere to be seen. I thought only the Germans did that.... It soon got packed with us English packed ...

Jane says the music stopped before 11 pm and I have to say it is quiet here after that. Les Lavandes had been close to a big road with motorbikes soaring past and, as we had the flat right next to the main entrance people would wake us up drunkenly banging the door. None of that here.
