This hotel is ok - has all you need, great location, nice people, park the car around the block around 25 euros to park over nite. Hotel is budget at best but had a fantastic breakfast included in the cost of our room. It was clean and nice- good price too- took a tour on the little train to see Nice- it was fun-

My wife and I did not encounter any of the problems mentioned by some other reviewers. The hotel has a excellent location and is decorated in a pleasing modern French Mediterranean style. The room we stayed in had excellent facilities and a very good en suite shower/toilet. Staff were helpful and the buffet breakfasts satisfying. We would stay in this hotel again.
No problems

Have stayed at this hotel 3 times and encountered no problems like those other reviewers mention. All rooms have a lockable safe and, as in all hotels we are careful to leave valuables locked away.
This hotel is in a good location, just behind the Negresco and West End.
At 3 stars, the rooms are on the small side but it's clean and comfortable. We found staff very helpful.
Sneaky Staff!

We ALSO had items stolen from our room, unfortunately they did not get returned as was the luck with the person from Switzerland. This is a place to stay away from!
Missing items

We were disappointed with Hotel La Fontaine on our last trip to Nice. The receptionist on arrival was not welcoming, (unusual in Nice, where we find them consistently great), made error with our booking, which resulted in the hotel saying that we had only booked and paid for one night, not four. Eventually they admitted their mistake, but it was a worry. Two items went missing from our room while we were there, and I note the same thing happened to your reviewer from Lausanne. Generally, not to be recommended until they sort out their problems.

I'm an American living and working in Europe. I have been going to Nice every summer for the past 5 years. I use the very reliable French guidebook Le Guide du Routard to help find the restaurants and hotels in the places I visit. I have never been disappointed until I recently stayed at the Hotel de la Fontaine in Nice. They have a great website, prices are fair, a darling patio for breakfast, clean rooms...BUT! the day after I arrived my watch and diamond ear rings were stolen out of my zipped up suitcase in my Hotel de la Fontaine room. When my friend and I checked and rechecked my suitcase to be sure they really were missing I reported the loss to the front desk. The next day when I was out the items just "magically" reappeared in a pocket of my suitcase and I was told I must have overlooked them. It was impossible for us to have overlooked this pocket since we completely emptied the suitcase 3 or 4 times. Needless to say I would not recommend this place to anyone. My favorite place to stay in Nice is Le Grimaldi and two great places to eat are Le Cave or Les Pecheurs.
