... We put almost 1,000 km on the car over four days! We hardly even got lost!! The last day just before we had to return the car we had an experience -- we drove to Rouen from Giverny and wanted to drop our stuff at our hotel. The only parking spot was tiny and had two concrete pillars in the front and another car behind. I made Gary get out and direct me -- not a scratch on the car!! Then we had to drop the car off at the train station car park on level Parking 2, -1! ...
I began writing this blog as I sit at the base of the arc de triomphe. Not something that many people can say they've done today. However I've finished it in my bed at some late hour after a fun night out. Today I was given the challenge of 'do as much as you can in a day in Paris' .... One of the purposes justifying its construction was that the poor could use it as protection during the cold Parisian Winters. A really nice reason and hopefully my cynicism is not misplaced.
Because of the communication problems we stayed in the coach more than one usually would as the guide could use the coach speaker system to explain the area, buildings and other relevant stories ...
