... route that we were on has a different trail for descent and ascent to help relieve congestion. This made the downhill quite pleasant, getting to walk down an easy road covered with just enough loose gravel to feel soft underfoot. That is, except for the few times we had to step over deep erosion channels carved into the rubble from the rain the last few days! It was 5pm back at the trailhead; we’d made the entire trip in exactly 7 hours. ...

Praying for good weather conditions, we left Kawaguchi by bus to climb Mt Fuji. Arrived at the 5th station around 9pm.
The 5th station is basically the end of the tree-line on the mountain.

We aimed to be at the top of Mt Fuji around 4:30 am in order to see the sunrise. The climb should take around 5-6 hours. An hour on the Mountain and another 3 hours to go back to the 5th station in order to catch the first bus back to Kawaguchi ...

However, after asking lots of people and a bit of frustration, we got to the Fifth Station in thick cloud, fog and drizzle. Not a particularly auspicious way to start the trek! We had read a fair bit about the climb and knew that it was extremely popular and often crowded, but we were not ready for just how crowded the mountain was. It was crazy! The trek itself is ...

8 km walk from walk Magemo to Tsumago.

The guide book and the tourist information centre told me that it would take 3hours to walk it.
However I only had 2, as I got up way to late to actually do this walk. What can I say i did it in 1 1/2 hours :)

Rock'n Roll!!!! found the coolest little coffee shop in Tsumago.

... pull out and make up futon beds for you. Then breakfast is served in the room as well. We were hoping that the food would justify the high price to stay there, and we weren't disappointed. The dinner consisted of about 20 little dishes, some hot, some cold. We had lots of fish dishes, Japanese pickles and many things we couldn't identify. The ...
