... ticket offices alone! So we were on our way on the 10am Shonan-Shinjuku line train to Odawara. The train wasn't the best as it stopped often. What was meant to be a 40min trip ended up twice that long. But we got to see a bit of the countryside. At Odawara we bought the Hakone free pass ticket for 4000 which included all transport within the area. We found the platform and we were bound for Odakyu Yomoto on yet another packed train. There are many other touristy things to do around the lakes and it depends on what you want to do. There are lots of museums and crafty things all around the lakes. Its worth going just for the view. I recommend staying at Koe house japanese style which is super close to the station.

I stayed in a lovely authentic ryokan (first time!) in Ito. This village at the sea, about 120km south of Tokyo, is very lively in summer, yet not very interesting in early spring. I walked a bit around town, grabbed a bite and quickly returned to the ryokan. It has it's ...
