This is to test out the Blog Editor and put a few notes about the holiday and what's why's of what we are doing.
Tuesday morning will see us bleary eyed but happy to be heading for the Wellington Airport. We are flying direct from Wellington to Brisbane, Australia. After a night in Brisbane we fly again north to Mackay township with the intention fo then hiring a car to travel north again, first townsend and then Cairns. Final destination is the Silky Oaks lodge on the edge of the dain...
Mon 13th Feb...... Last night when we got off the ferry we drove to Moana Lodge (our BBH for the night) in a place called Plimmerton - this is on the west coast 20 mins. north of Wellington - it has a 94% satisfaction rate in the book and has a beautiful beachfront location It was the most luxurious place we stayed in and was immaculately kept. The only downside was that our room was opposite the toilets/showers and was a bit noisy because of this. The owner was the most knowledgeable and hel...
Napier, New Zealand siestabrigid... day of work today (Saturday). We work at a bar called St. John's for the afternoon and then go to cater later at night over at the convention center. We hung out with Saskia last night. She brought over a friend that is visiting her from Holland and we all went out dancing together. It's lots different here becuase the bars are open all night. We end up getting tired and leaving much ealier than all the kiwis.
Wellington, Wellington, New Zealand fierce4nz... I thought was pretty weird at first. Leszek finds it amusing & now joins in 'honking happily' all the way! Boys will be boys eh?! hehe

Warning: Now for some 'running spiel' :)) Wellington City has really grown on me & I love it. My runs include Mount Victoria with big hills, but fab city views; the Botanical Gardens (just 2 mins away from where we're staying) and through the gardens to the Bee Hive parliament building, along ...
Wellington, North Island, New Zealand kirst-leszek09... is unquestionable. I recently suggested we try disc one of my Learn Spanish CD to mix things up a little and he graciously agreed. For a Pole who only started speaking English six months ago and whose primary purpose on this trip is to further his English and as a result his job prospects this is very good of him. I always fear that with every piece of new information I learn a little of the old information gets pushed out. Like Homer Simpson when he goes to a wine making ...
Wellington, North Island, New Zealand dantheeducator...
Wellington, North Island, New Zealand schwate... habit I could deem as Crazy Eyes. As he's building up a story he'll suddenly snap his eyes up to meet yours, opening them as wide as they'll go and then continue to stare straight at you until the end of his sentence, just to make sure you KNOW. HOW. INTENSE. THE. SITUATION. WAS..... "Texas is humid too, man. *crazy eyes* You know the laundry room, when all the dry**s and wash**s are on full blast? THAT. IS. TEXAS." He sings beautifully too. When I was ...
Wellington, North Island, New Zealand leevilporkchop... supplies for dinner. I loaded up on trail mix and dates (still missing the ones I had in Israel). We bought bread, meat, cheese, nuts, etc. for a tapas style dinner. We went home and just hung out and talked until late into the night. If you can imagine April and I having a conversation - it's possible we could talk till we suck all the air out of the room!
Wellington, North Island, New Zealand rebshark... is unsafe, and 2) If this goes on for the entire trek, we will be exhausted. We were having serious flash-backs to Kilimanjaro; fortunately we knew this was only for the day. Then we crested and passed the Red Crater, and the weather completely changed. The wind died down, the sky cleared and the sun came out. It was beautiful. Although the were some additional challenging sections (nothing like that first bit !), the scenery was so beautiful. We could really see ...
