... about 5pm off to our chateau hotel some 50kms away. Got lost in a close-by town, then Sonja (in her best French) got perfect directions. Lots of hand waving required, but it worked. This beautiful castle built on the River Cher was home to five different ladies between 1499-1836; Diane De Poitiers, Catherine de Medici, Louise of Lorraine, Louise Dupin and Marguerite Pelouze. During the First World War, it served as a hospital. Although the crowds were large, we enjoyed seeing this charming and beautifully restored residence.
