... Music. We wandered through the Christmas markets during the day and had an afternoon nap. My cold was just about gone but we were tired from not getting enough sleep in Ljubljana. After dinner we walked back to the markets to see them at night. They were just as lovely as the markets in Vienna. There were all sorts of things to buy- decorations, little presents and unique gifts as well as food stands and even a bar ...
Salzburg, Austrian Alps, Austria steveandwhitneyhey all,
I forgot about Salzburg... we went there before Prague... I guess I have put it out of my mind because KB sang the musical the whole time we were there! lol, it was great though...
We got to Salzburg at night and tried to follow the directions to the hotel, but we didn't know if we had to go right or left out of the train station, so KB asked some, what I thought were ...
... we jumped in the van with all the other tourists...there were 8 of us in total, and headed to see the spots and scenes that you see in the movie the Sound of Music. I hadn't seen it in quite a while so I'll have to watch it when I get home to compare! But we were also able to see the gazeebo that is in the movie when they sing the song I am 16 going on 17...pretty cool. We took tons of pictures, and a lot of them were in the areas ...
Salzburg, Austria kkb-myadventure... they filmed The Sound of Music around this area, and let me tell you, they were not greenscreening anything, people. This place is gorgeous! I think it had even Bruges beat on being picturesque. Winding streets, blue skies, cute shops, and the Alps. Seriously, how am I going to go back to Illinois after scenery like this?
Anyway, we started off our visit by taking a funicular ride up to the fortress, which ...
... talk about crazy, and very friendly too…
In the morning we drop Andrea off at the airport and then continue south until we come to a small town to have breakfast and explore a little castle up on the hill. After a nice little breakfast in a cozy café, we drive around trying to get up the mountain towards this castle, and after a couple of wrong turns we get up there. It’s a really pretty spot and surrounded by vineyards and a ...
Five countries in one day! For the next couple of days, all the countries seem to merge in to one! We basically had to be in Salzburg, Austria on Saturday 14th and we were right at the bottom of France on Thursday 12th.... A long drive a head!!! We left Monaco in the early afternoon heading for Italy.... The roads weren't that great and we seemed to be getting no where fast. Wattie and us were a bit hot after climbing hill after hill and we ...
Grassau, Germany paula_rod... pal Mitchell, who was also abandoned by her boyfriend. We had a great day out, seeing all the major locations of the movie, the convent, the Van Trapp House, the Church where they got married, and we saw the Gazebo where they jumped and danced around in the film. And after seeing these locations we now know the movie doesn't lie, Salzburg is home is some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. The city is so clean and ...
Salzburg, Austria johnandcandiceAugust 26-Monday
We left Kitzbuhel at 8:30. There was a brief stop in Berchtesgarden, in Germany, at 10:00. Up on the side of the mountain, we could see Hitler's Eagle’s Nest. It was rather chilling to see that part of history. The bunker is now a restaurant. Our rest stop overlooked a valley filled with wonderful homes. What a view! Back on the bus and on to Salzburg. Time 10:35.
Salzburg
August 26-MondayWe had to get up a little earlier today because we were headed for our first big road trip: Salzburg, the home of Mozart. ( I am really looking forward to this trip.) We left Kitzbuhel at 8:30. There was a brief stop in Berchtesgarden, in Germany, at 10:00. Up on the side of the mountain, we could see Hitler's Eagle’s Nest. ... can share some of its beauty with you. The weather was starting to break, and we decided to head up to Kitzbuheler Horn. To get to the top of the mountain, we had to take two separate cable cars. The first car was a gondola-type car that took us to what they call the 'middle station’. There we had to change cars to reach the top. We had about 45 minutes to wait for the next car, so we had some time to view the valley from this point…and oh ...
