... too confident, too big for my britches, thinking I could conquer the world, and now here I am stuck outside of town, unable to figure out how to get where I need to go. Was this a huge mistake???
As I got off the bus, I passed an old woman who smiled at me -- a little too friendly -- like the "massage proprietors" in KL. I payed her no mind and carried on my increasingly frantic mission.I ended passing her a couple more ...
... Botanical Gardens. It sometimes seemed like hard work in the heat, but it was worth it. Such a natural and beautiful space. I must have spent a good 3 hours walking around. The pictures don't do it justice, but I tried A bit like Jamaica, it started to rain at 3pm again. I was better prepared today, umbrella to the ready and downstairs on the bus!! ... social unrest, race riots and curfews led to Singapore being expelled from the Federation and it became an Independent Republic in 1965. As we all know, it is now a highly developed free market economy, a magnet for high tech industries, a large refining centre, a global shipping and travel hub, and outside of Japan has the highest GDP in Asia.
No wonder it seems so expensive to us overland travellers. It has been a bit of a shock to the financial system!
