Time to say goodbye
Found this awesome trip blooger just a little too late... but what the heck... better late than never! Wouldn't want to go through this trip without recording all the memories and experiences we go through.
(Imported from a blog typed out on my Iphone on the day we left... seems like soooo long ago and so much has happened since then) …
No Worries – We found Nemo!
So we picked up some groceries from the local grocery store 2 blocks from our apartment, Coles. Not too bad for selection and prices aren't too bad either if you stick to local items. Milk for 2L is just over $4, Kiwis were $0.50 each, grape tomatoes $2 but try to get things like raspberries and ½ pint was $8! A can of Coke is $2.50 most places but …
Fish, Fish, Which Fish for our dish?
Addison is fully adjusted to Australia time! Asleep at 9pm and up around 7am! Would be nice to get her to sleep in another hour but we will work on that! Sydney on the other hand thinks 5:30am is playtime! Need to get that fixed by Saturday morning as we won't be able to go downstairs and play so that Addie keeps sleeping when Auntie Jen and Andy …
Cuties and Koalas…..
It was an early morning today!! 6am both girls decided it was time to get up! Mommy was not so happy about this so attempted to get more sleep by feeding Sydney so she fell back to sleep and telling Addie she wasn't allowed to go downstairs until later – that worked until 7am! So it was a bit of a rough morning fighting with a little girl who …
These boots were made for walkin'
So today was a walking day and a lot of walking we did. Addisonwas buckled in the stroller as she left en route with Grandad, Auntie Jen, Andy, Auntie Jacq, Andy and Mommy in tow while Sydney stayed back for some time with Gran. Heading down to Pyrmont Brindge and then along Darling Harbour Rd we walked past the Sydney Convention Center, The …

Historical Traveler Reviews Astral Tower and Residences at The Star Sydney
Star City was perfect!
We loved Star City from the moment we arrived travel weary at the entrance. The staff took over and made sure our stay was top notch. We stayed in a two bedroomed apartment which was plush, clean and comfortable. The gymnasium was quiet, well equipped and the pool crystal clear. We found the location convenient too, the ferry ride to Circular Quay is scenic especially at night. There is a huge new shopping centre nearby which we enjoyed meandering around. I would suggest only one improvement, to give the option of apartments with one double and two single beds instead of two double. They must have their reasons for this but for a family with two teenage children compromises had to be made!
Nice...as long as you do not have a disability!
Terrible experience. Upon returning from the theatre, security staff took great offence to my disability from a recent car accident. After dealing with extremely rude staff, we were forced to walk around the external perimeter of the complex, to return to our hotel room. No need complaining, Starcity will offer an apology in the form of an upgraded room next visit....for the low price of $250.00
The best place to satay!!
We stayed here recently for a weekend without the kids. Everything was just perfect. All the staff were fantastic and very friendly. The room was perfect...the views were beautiful and those curtains were just fab for a sleep in..must get some of them for the home. We ate in a number of restaurants and the food and service was fantastic. I would definitely recommend this hotel. 10 out 10!!
Fantastic time at Star City
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Star City April 10 to the 13th of 2005. Our two bedroom apartment was immaculate. The view of Darling Harbour and the city skyline was fantastic. The location was very convienient via the light rail to get into town; there is a stop at the hotel on the light rail line. There are several restaurants at the hotel that serve adequate meals but we mostly ate in the city. At night we had a blast at the casino. Fairly large, very lively, and for pony players like myself a large area dedicated to the horses, puppies, and a large screen rugby/football display. When we return to Sydney, this is where we will stay.
Star City apartments great for families
Our family of four stayed in a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment from 5 to 10 Jan 2005. Very clean, spacious and well equipped. High standard of room servicing, all consumables were replaced daily and the room was left spotless. My quibbles were:
- fridge noisy
- lifts required security card to be inserted, we and many other guests had trouble getting the cards to work
- poor signage giving directions to hotel reception. We arrived by tram in the station under the hotel, then had some difficulty finding the hotel reception. The complex is very big and not easy to navigate.
Plus points are the facilities like cafes, restaurants and shops onsite, pool, good friendly service and location. Overall a high standard hotel. Would definitely recommend the apartments for families.
Great hotel
My partner and I stayed at Star City Casino Hotel from the 17th Sep-19th Sep 2004. Having never stayed there I was a bit worried. (our regular hotel was booked out by a conference).
Checking in was a breeze, they had over booked so we were up graded to a much nicer suite. It was a smoking room (we don't) you could smell a hint of smoke but not too bad though. Every thing in the room was clean and tidy and the view beautiful.
Buffet breakfast was great plenty of choice, could up grade to another level for beakfast but no need.
The pool and outside entertainment area was great they even cater for kids. Hotel and staff great would stay again. My only complaint was about the ajoining Casino. Never have i met a ruder bunch of people. They are meant to be in the service industry and Sydney being a land mark for tourist. what would people think of Australians?.
Every thing was too much effort for them. And all I wanted was a drink, not much to ask. Every bar person that i spoke to in the three days while there was rude. (not bad odds pitty i couldnt bet on that). Even floor staff couldnt be bothered. In bad need of STAFF TRAINING, starting by management, they need to get down on floor level and clean the place up.
All i can say about my experience is WHERE IS MR PACKER?
Home Away From Home
My husband had to travel to Sydney for business back in April. We decided to join him on the trip. I found this hotel online and thought it would be great for us since we have 5 children. I'm so glad we stayed at Star City. The rooms were spacious, the staff decidated and the location convenient. We stayed three weeks and cannot think of a single complaint. We hope to return to Sydney and would most definitely stay at Star City. Oh...how we miss our other "home".
Star City Apartments Truly Accessable
My partner and I travel extensivley and these apartments are very big with a great accessable balcony, the service eg extra towels etc was terrific and best of all truly wheelchair accessable. Make sure a Queen size bed or larger is available though, great location. Five nights not long enough.
My Favorite Hotel In The World
1) My room had a fabulous view of Darling Harbour
2) my two bedroom apartment was huge (about 1,000 square feet, full kitchen, a living room, and a dinning area).
3) The monorail had a stop at the bottom of the hotel.
All this for only $225 AUD per night. (About $125 USD).
My wife and I didn't want to ever come home. It was heaven.
I LOVE THIS HOTEL
This is a first-class property with a big casino. The rooms are large and beautifully furnished.,The rooftop pool has one of the best views inSydney. The hotel is within easy walking distance from Darling Harbour, the Sydney Aquarium,Maritime Museum, etc., and the Sydney Red Busstops right outside. The elevators are secure. Good choice.
