Hotel Astra Opera - Astotel Paris

Today i have gotten back from Paris which is about 8 hours. I had a great time on Last Monday me and one of my friends that i met there we were room mates. we ened up to be late for our first trip to the Sacre Courer. it was 9:13 and we had to leave at 9:15 so we ran around packing food and having to get changed the bus waited but we ened up being …
... its magic on us and reminded us that we really are cultural neophytes, we needed to take stock and reflect on the hours passed. A trip on the Seine again was just the trick before we found a cafe near Notre Dame for a really late lunch.
For dinner we cruised the shops for cheese, bread, antipasto and cider. Heaven - a room with a view and supper for two.
Tomorrow we will either bring ourselves into the 19th century at the Musee ...
... I sew, I can at least rip the mistakes out and start over. We were in one room and most of the statues didn't have heads. Couldn't tell if they were meant to have heads or if they had fallen off in transit. Curious question. We did see some fabulous art work. And because we had bought our passes ahead of time, we could walk ahead of the crowds everywhere we went. Felt kind of special.
We left the Louvre and ...
... the bedrooms.
Today an American friend of ours from New Mexico, whom we met 6-years-ago in Paris, arrived for one of her annual visits to the City of Light, and is staying in an apartment in the Latin Quarter. We connected via e-mail, and invited her for brunch at our place this coming Sunday. Chef Dee will no doubt dazzle her with a bit of tasty cuisine from her kitchen-away-from-home.
We also made reservations, a bit of a splurge, for ...

We then visited Le Jardin Tuileries, a fancy garden that precedes the Louvre. It made me nostalgic because this was very close to the street I lived on for a month when I visited Paris about 2 years before. We sat on a bench to rest and watched a couple of adorable old French men play some game ...

location, location, location - fantastic area to walk, convenient to everything and an all around GREAT hotel - I would Definately stay here again!! I highly recommend! Just minutes by foot to many main attractions. Shopping,The Louvre, St. Madelaine , The Rive Seine, Notre dame, and more.
Not worth four stars
I booked a five day stay there with my husband and didnīt know what to expect from this hotel. I read about itīs havng 4 stars and a great location.... and was excited at first (nice lobby) and then was greatly disappointed.
First of all they gave us a room with two separate beds which we refused. Then the next room (and only other one free, as they told us!) they offered us was on a floor with no elevator access, most tiny, with a sloppy made bed and a bathroom about the size of a suitcase!
Staff was rather unfriendly and unwilling to help. Breakfast not that bad.
I will definetely NOT stay there again in spite of itīs fantastic location!
The hotel is proudly displaying its 4th Star these days, but it makes me question the star system. I can completely understand 3 Stars -- see below, but the 4th has me mystified.
First impressions of this hotel were excellent. The lobby and lounge/bar area is clean, tidy and ultra modern. The first signs that our room (an Expedia 'Special Rate' might be different ) were when we were told the main lift only went as far as the sixth floor and to get to the top floor required using the service lift! (not too bad although one morning we couldn't get in it as it was full of dirty laundry and sheets so had to use the stairs and then the rather plusher main lift!) The hallways were in 1970s orange and brown decor and the room very small (i.e. door, chair, very uncomfortable, sagging bed and wardrobe!). The ensuite bathroom, however, was brand new, v.clean and excellent shower.
Great staff, but small rooms
Good location, but rooms very small. Booking with Best Western online gave no options for bigger rooms. Also quite a lot of noise from the other rooms.Staff great, very friendly
I've stayed at this hotel about 5 times over the last 4 years, and have always enjoyed it. This is one of my absolute favorites when traveling for business because it is the best located, best connected location in Paris!
Excellent Location, Beautiful hotel!
I absolutely loved this hotel! It is situated on a small, quaint street and just steps away from all of the department stores. There is a metro station conveniently at the end of the street, which will take you anywhere in Paris in a matter of minutes. I preferred to walk everywhere -- the opera house, the Louvre, the Madeleine church, etc.
The rooms themselves are small (to be expected), but nicely decorated and very clean! I highly recommend this hotel if you don't mind paying a little extra. Service=excellent! The man at the front desk helped us plan a quick getaway to Versailles-- The whole staff is very detail-oriented.
