The crater was formed 8,000 years ago when Mt. Mazama erupted. The lake is over 1,400 feet deep and only snow melt fills it. No rivers or springs run in or out of it. I also played with his little dog, who was woofing with excitement and getting involved. The man asked us all where we were from, and was surprised when I said London. I said everyone loves the Goonies, all over the world, and he grinned proudly! Then he said that now we've visited, we are officially goonies too! Best day out I ...
