Lucerne Switzlerland - Chocolate, Chocolate and...

Today, Teresa and I are typing to you from a Starbucks near the heart of Lake Lucerne, Switzerland. It is currently 9:37pm local time (3:37pm EDT) and I am enjoying a nice cup of expresso (yes, I still am drinking expressos even after leaving Italy. Throughout our travels today, we crossed through the Swiss Alps, going up approx. 7,000 ft. at one point. You will see some pictures from a point where we were able to get off of our tour bus and take some arial photos. Some mountains you may see ...

Evidently God didn't feel that the view and revolveing restaurant was good enough for us, so he threw in a couple of snow falls for good measure. Gotta love the guy!

We made a couple/few revolutions, took a few dozen pictures, and started our descent. We couldn’t work out if he belonged to the hostel but we figured that he didn’t and must have made his way in from the street. We gave him some leftovers all the same!

He really did remind us of Anzac so Witek ran up to get the camera while I tried to keep his attention. He wandered out to reception where I feared they would kick him straight out ...

... top of the watch towers, you can see the steeple roof of the buildings of Lucerne and hear chiming of clocks every hour. The Zyt Tower, part of the Musegg Wall is home to the oldest city clock, built back in 1535, which still works perfectly. Run by stone weights and pendulums, the clock's bell is allowed to chime one full minute before the other clocks in the city.

... of the bus hanging off the cliff! I wonder if he try to edge it out a bit more each time, hehe. Anyways, we went to Mary's Bridge to have a wonderful veiw of the castle and a really great photo. Well it was a great view and we would have had a great photo if it wasn't for the scaffolding! Grrrr. So we walked down the path to the Castle. Waiting for our 11.25 queue up and had a tour through the castle. The castle was never finished, the bits that were..a misure of ...

A slow moving day...

... that if there's not enough fabric to cover them in the first place, then it probably doesn't fit properly and they need to change into something that does. Another note that I've noticed aside from the clothes are the shoes. Yes, as a shoe person, I have to say some have fantastic shoes and I find myself gawking at them but I don't think I'll understand how so many can wear sandals and have their toes basically hang over the front of them.... it ...

Another Day of Sun in the Alps

... The 'cruise' was free with our Eurail train passes so we just grabbed a seat up front, ate our lunch and enjoyed the views. Our cruise ended right around dinner time and we ventured out to see a famous Lion Monument, carved in a mountian wall to remember the soliders that died in war. It was quite a carving. Then headed for dinner and we ended our night by discovering our favorite ice-cream in all of Europe, a Swiss brand (?) Movenpick. It was so delicous, Steve was in heaven.

... visited in 1986 (if it was good enough for my cousin, it is good enough for me). The dining room was paneled in light wood, very nice...and a very enjoyable evening. Shirley joined us this evening and the three of us had a good time. I can’t wait for tomorrow and the Glacier Express train trip to St. Moritz. Before I go any further, I have to say again that the scenery has been spectacular! I never get tired of looking at it.
