Highway 90 and Bet Sh'en

We took our time and left Ein Gedi at 11am. I was a little apprehensive about traveling north on 90 through the West Bank, but everyone we had talked to seemed to think we would be fine. The whole trip from the juncture of 1 and 90 through the West Bank took only about a half an hour. On the way we really saw very few people even in the villages we passed. It was a hot mid-day travel). Since I was the navigator, I was able to scout and point out places along the way such as the probable bapti...

The Quest for Har Bental

The breakfast at the Astoria was very good. Lots of choices of salads, plus yogurts, and several egg dishes. Also great coffee even though it seems like a tight commodity having its own person to dole it out. Today's plan is to do some traveling into Northern Galilee while we have a good week day since tomorrow is Friday and I anticipate having less time that sites are open. We hopped on highway 90 North. As we approached the Mount of Beatitudes we decide to stop. Here we found a beautiful ba...

A quest for Silan...

Today's plans are somewhat nebulous. Addison has been begging to go to a toy store he saw downtown. So guess we will hit this before we travel around the lake traveling south. So we began our day shopping. For our trip we had rented two phones from Amigo. The 2 Amigo phones ended up costing us about $50 for two weeks. They allowed us to easily make local calls, call home every couple of days, and they had a free walkie-talkie feature that came in very handy this morning or any time we separat...

Delights of the Shabot

I woke up in the darkness, determined to quietly get up and dressed and find an overlook just a few blocks away for the sunrise. I was on my way out when my son spoke out, "where are you going, Dad?" When I told him he laughed. I check my watch again and discovered it was only 1:30 in the morning. So needles to say I slipped back in the bed. I tried again only this time it was 6am and yes I had a great quiet time and some great pictures at the nearby lookout. After breakfast we were off to th...

Jerusalem to Tiberias

... We were slightly disappointed with Tiberias and so we only stayed a night. Seeing the Sea of Galilee was pretty cool and it looks beautiful. And we ate a delicious meal at El Rancho which was an Argentinean BBQ Restaurant. We also had a very disrespectful and unhelpful employee at the Information Desk; we left wondering why there was an Info desk when we got absolutely NO info!!!

... and I start straight after my travels end! Far less dramatic (and disappointingly so) was my visit to Niagara falls, which is cool and all but nothing to go crazy about. Anyways, next on to New York city, now officialy my favourite place on earth and ******nit am I determined to go and live there at some point soon. Spent the first few days catching up with Roxane, my best mate, who has given birth to the most adorable little baba called Jake. So like loads of stuff ...

... which was nice to sit down and have a good chat with him since I don't get to see my older cousin too often. So that just leaves me in New York City! I've got Tom's apartment to myself and did some organisation today- I mailed home a box of stuff after coming to the realisation that I failed miserably to pack lightly, did some washing, visited the HBO Sex and the ...

More Subway Joy Rides... Spamalot!

... outside near the top of New York City's tallest building, now that the Twin Towers are no more, I felt my heart racing as I imagined a similar incident happening here with Laura and I stuck on top. What did the people see who were standing on this observation deck the morning of 9/11? How frightening would that have been? And then, to think that people were jumping out of the towers at a height higher up ...
