... That is until the lightning started coming down around us and then it was time to take cover.

The kids enjoyed the onboard camp "Adventure Ocean" at which they played, painted, had a "everybody's" birthday party, and pirate night. They also loved the pool and the self serve ice cream machine that offered you all the ice cream you could eat - and they had allot of ice cream - LOL.

Cococay was great ...
Nassau, New Providence Island, Bahamas a3dennert... British Virgin Islands to date was definitely one of our favourite places in the Caribbean but the Bahamas is starting to get a hold on us. Nowhere have we been before where the water is so beautiful, the islands are not pretty and tropical like the ones further down south but are flat and rocky with scrubby vegetation, interesting in their own way. We are anchored at Warderick Wells in the Exuma National Park for a ...
Warderick Wells, Bahamas bellavita... on the hull on that boat. Watching what he does is our amusement for the afternoon. Between four and six he should be trying to get off and he'll have to avoid the three sailboats on the moorings next to him and try to get to deeper water on the other side of those sailboats. Everyone in our PPDG has run aground and we all have empathy for the Catamaran but the way he did it was kind of funky. If you've ever been in ...
WADERICK WELLS CAY, Bahamas takinbetz... running through the cut then along side O'Briens Cay to the Sea Aquarium which is, coincidentally, in the same area as Johhny Depp's place. We took a wide swing around O'Briens Cut to get through the current. Once on the other side of the current, the motor starts to **** out on us again. The New Landing: At this point, we aimed the dinghy across O'Briens Cut and headed ...
CAMBRIDGE CAY, Bahamas takinbetz... leaving Sunday. Hummm. Something we don't know about? Interestingly enough, outside the gated marina there are guards everywhere - liquor store, Winn Dixie and the doorman at Dominos was a guard. They keep the area buttoned up and it was recommended we don't wander around at night after dark. I guess the guards go home! We settled in early getting ready to leave in the morning. It was a good day. Life is good.
Nassau, Bahamas takinbetz... he rattled the gear shift and rattled it but could not get it out of gear. So now, for sure, we couldn't get the engine started at all and there was no hope of motoring into the anchorage in the dark. Dave asked if the mainsail was still up and I said yes, I had not started taking it down yet, so he said we'd sail closer into shore to try to get some protection from the waves and wind and less depth and that I was to run up to the bow and ...
Chub, Bahamas takinbetz... of night. But hey, at least I am not in an inside cabin where is stays dark 24 hrs a day if you wanted it to. I think I might go into hibernation if I lived in there! I am not sure how much time I will have to blog while I am in port so it may be a few days before I write again. I miss yall and hope life is treating you all well! I would love to hear from some of you about life back home!
Atlantic Ocean, Florida, Bahamas claudiv... SAS recommended reading because it is what this semester's voyage is themed after. However, I think I have closed that book permanently now. The book has been about the first people and the progress and evolutions mankind has made over the last several thousands of years. However, my final annoyance with the evolution themed book was the sentence, "Ethiopia seems at present the best candidate for being the birthplace of modern humans, the real world's counterpart of ...
Nassau, New Providence Island, Bahamas cali... fun. First of all, we had lunch at a restaurant right across the street from the Hilton Hotel in downtown Nassau, and then toured the downtown area. We finished the evening by going to the Hard Rock Cafe' and Senor Frogs. Both of these places prove for a good time in the evening. Senor Frogs is right on the water overlooking where the cruise ships dock.
Nassau, Bahamas jamesdalphonseThe ship was docked in Nassau. We booked a tour about pirates and forts. We had a bus tour of the island. We got out and looked around two different forts. We ended up at a pirate museum. Our tour guide was dressed as a pirate and was over the top with his pirate imitation. Ashley and I went back to the ship. Matthew and Rick did some additional sightseeing.
