... I headed out the first day and discovered the prostitutes by the piazza Spinola. That was fun and shocking. Declan found a little place that sold cherries ( a new favorite) and so we bought a bag and then threaded out way though the impossibly narrow streets until we came to a little square with some tables and chairs and umbrellas. The tables were all populated by local Italians - most smoking, most young. We all wandered into the cheese ...

... later has got to top my bucket list! A Spanish lady and her husband came to my rescue and offered for me to share the taxi with them and then I could pay them the next day! I will always be great full to Ines and her husband for reaching out to me! Her motherly instincts had kicked in and I was already feeling a little better. I arrived at my hotel in Genova two hours later. I was greeted by a very nice Italian man, Augostino. My room is small but great. I have my own bathroom ...

    ... track.

We began to feel a little uneasy when we saw no one else was waiting at the track... then I saw two elderly men leaving. I ran after them wanting to know if they spoke English, and they explained that they had just learned that the trains are on strike today!

SO that put a swift halt to our plans, and the frustraton of four validated tickets and a Tobacconist who doesn't seem to know what ...
