... you come to the beach – it comes to you. A lady went up
and down the beach selling soup and fried snacks which the locals
bought like crazy. Access to Dreamland Beach is through a resort
area which is disconcerting – although it's open to the public
locals having to go through a foreign resort area to get to their own
beach is wrong. Tourism is Bali's main industry – 60% of the
country's income. But there are some harsh realities that come with
it.

... technique had dampened curiosity to critically low levels, along with creative thought and inspiration levels that were flat-lining) such as the Balinese guy sitting next to me. I first met Made, (pronounced Mad-eh) at the fiscal counter, where he was very confused and confided in me that he had never left Bali before... too which I added to confusion by confiding that neither had I... I helped him to work out the forms at the fiscal desk and confirmed the staggering ...

... and a women says I can get a manicure/pedicure for 2 dollars in ten minutes. I decide to do it! This is where trouble begins! They finish my pedicure/manicure and tell me that because they drew flowers on my nails so I owe them 120 dollars not 2. Are you kidding me? The woman has my purse in her hands because my nails were wet and I didn't think she was shady. Thankfully, I didn't bring much money and its stored in more than ...

Hotel Mutiara

... Endlessly... like a robot! God in heaven! The villa is not too bad but is 80,000,000 Rp to be paid up front... For the year. Too much! Even with the exchange rate! He zips me back to the Mutiara in what I can only describe as a breathless journey when I swear my legs were brushing the ground!! He is a bit obvious and assumes I am as naive as fresh grown grass, but there is something I like about him... God have wittered on! will fill you in on my new house and school next time, Ixxx

The Last Days

... out of the airport and took a deep breath of the LA smog and behold, Jonathan Euller was pinching my butt cheek. Good to be home. The stories for my grandchildren have been set. Now it's time to start embellishing them. "I remember when I was attacked by a water buffalo in the battle field trenches of Lakeys Peak. A beast bit a huge chunk out of my foot and nearly gored my heart if I hadn't rammed my surfboard into its right eye..."

... 24 hour bars and clubs than there are temples or anything else like that. There are also lots of Australians... If you can possibly get over these factors it is a great plae to be and a good place to relax for the last stop of our travels, thats right the last stop. Sort of. We arrived late as usual from our interesting journey via minibus, bus and boat and wandered down one of the two streets most known for budget hotels and restaurants. Thankfully we found ...

Sunset at Ku De Ta

The best place to eat in Seminyak is the French fusion restaurant, Ku De Ta. After security guards with scanners greet patrons at the door, the minimalist décor flows through to glass doors opening onto a large courtyard with decorative pool and a huge expanse of ocean in front. This becomes one of the best viewing platforms to watch the sun go down over the water, and see Bali ...

Hiking to Goa Gajah

... stand had about a zillion monkey statues each. How do these people make money when they all have the same product? Okay. Shut down the business side of your mind, Julia and look out for the sign that told us we were there. Admission fee: 6000 Rupiah (about 60 cents) and off we went. Down a long stairway (something I'm beginning to notice here: all of the steps are huge, like they were designed for very tall people with very long legs, which wouldn't really describe the indigenous ...

Then on Saturday (the day of the wedding we woke to the most beautiful of Skies...perfect wedding weather actually...and was surprised to not actually be excited by the prospect of what lay ahead. This was probably due to spending the previous 6 nights out celevrating anyway !! However, as we boarded the buses to head 90 minutes in land to Ubud (the cultural capital ...
