Yeahhhhh, that's more like it! Paradise. A balm for the senses. The smells, the sounds, the sights. Ahhhhhhhh.
After an early start from the hotel in Portland, a quick shuttle trip to the airport and an easy passage through security, we boarded the Alaska Airline flight for a six hour trip to Hawaii. And it was an easy flight. The crew …
The Waikiki and Oahu leg was the last segment of our 14 night trip to Hawaii. The earlier stages (Big Island and Maui) had been pretty hectic due to limited time. The Oahu stage was a little more relaxing as we had 7 nights and not that much driving to do.
We arrived from Maui Thursday June 11. Took the Roberts Shuttle into Waikiki. We …

For lunch, Ted suggested going to Yard House which is in Donald Trumpland, in Waikiki. To give you an idea about it, it is a regular style restaurant, with over 100 different beers on tap. They didn't have VB sadly. We did however get to try our first ever smores. It was supposed to be a single serve, but Ted and I couldn't ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Aston Pacific Monarch Honolulu
Ocean view for Less
I gotta agree with the author of "Best Deal in Waikiki". Best ocean view deal using the Entertainment Rate discount. But I was disappointed with the kitchen which was very small compared to other Aston condos we've stayed at in Maui. We cranked up the AC and it got pretty cold in the living room area. We requested a fan which we used in the bedroom to keep us cool at night. Housekeeping responded fast and there's daily maid service. Other than the ocean view for less, the location is great - close to everything. We would stay there again the next time we visit Waikiki.
Nice partial ocean view from lanai, flowers for hair at the desk during the weekdays, close to shopping and beach. The roof top pool is nice, but was windy. They did not change the sheets nor clean bathroom; the housecleaning only replaced towels, made the beds and threw out the trash. There were some bugs on the kitchen counters, but overall pretty clean.
If you are renting a car, they charge ten dollars per night for parking.
I was a little apprehenseive to stay at this hotel once I had read previous reviews. I wanted to share my experience with those of you who plan to stay there in the future.
My husband and I stayed at Aston Pacific Monarch in Oct 2003 for part of our honeymoon. We had been in Aston Paki Maui before coming to Oahu.
While the walls needed a good scrubbing or (more likely) a paint job, and the carpets and sofa needed shampooing, the one bedroom unit we had was just great in every other way. The kitchen had everything we needed and more. The lanai was on the corner of the building, so it was open on two sides. I could see the mountains as well as the oceanview I'd requested. At first I was disappointed that there was a TV only in the living room and not in the bedroom. We soon found that we were having too much fun to watch TV anyhow. We never used the one we did have!
My sentiments parallel those of the reviewer dated August 18th. We stayed from Oct. 2-11 & had same problems with AC & ants. The room was somewhat clean. Looks like the only thing maid service ever did was replace the towels. Bathroom wasn't that clean & they only provided 1 bar of soap - had to ask for another. Their idea of rooms with an ocean view is a joke! It was $10 more & the only view you had was a glimpse between the other hotels! Would definitely NOT stay here again. Also, waiting for an elevator takes forever!
Great value for the money
We just returned from a stay at the Aston Pacific Monarch, September 14-20, 2003.
We were upgraded to a bigger room upon check in and throughly enjoyed our stay. It is great to be able to have the kitchen so some costs of the trip can be cut by doing breakfast and leftovers in the room. Don't go expecting a fancy resort, but a fine hotel and the staff were always very helpful. The pool/hot tub on the roof are a great way to relax in the evening and very few guest use them (the same group of people each night). If we would go back, we would most definitely stay here again.
Second rate at best
Just came back from 14 days in Hawaii. First 7 were at the Pacific Monarch in Honolulu. Most of the rooms have air conditioners which do not cool. We switched to a higher floor room after a couple days and still no better. AC is a must since it is so hot there most of the time. There were ants everywhere. The place was supposedly newly renovated but I could not tell. The traffic noise was terrible, no matter what floor, but that's Honolulu for you. It is close to the beach, but it's also on Kuhio Ave. which becomes hooker alley after dark. The staff was friendly and tried to make things better, but they can only do so much.
Great time at the aston pacific monarch
we had a great time everyone in hotel was outstanding in their services and very helpful when a question was ask very close to beach i would tell every one to stay here we had a lot of fun
Bang for your $$$!
ok, this is no hilton village, but if you are budget conscious, you'll get the most bang for your bucks here. just make sure you get a room on a higher floor, otherwise sounds of delivery trucks will wake you up early in the morning! that's the only drawback at this place. the view of waikiki beach is great if you get one of the view rooms. also, the pool/hot tub/sauna on top floors are clean and hardly used by guests. the kitchenette has everything you need and the lanai is an awesome place to eat your breakfast as the sun rises.
