Have a Mai Tai and a smile!

Ok, I'll make it short this time. Lump it all together under one entry. We had a great time in and around Waikiki Beach for the 5 days we were there. Direct flight from Seattle, decent hotel (Aqua Waikiki Wave), sunny and upper 80's. Lots of Mai Tai's, which is a Tahitian word for "good". That's beyond doubt the word that entered my mind too, sitting outside of the Moana Surfrider Hotel watching the sun go down, slurping the golden drops. Sampling floofy drinks was our primary occupation, but...

Aloha!!

Aloha!

So Groundhog Day for us, same date but this time we are in Hawaii. Our flight got in at 8:45am, 20hrs behind where we had just come from, something to get our heads around. We got a taxi to our hostel (by the way it was already 28 degrees at this point, lol) but we couldn't check in until 2, so we went for a wonder around Waikiki. It’s exactly like the TV and as I expected, palm trees, bright colour shirts, relaxed happy atmosphere, really nice.

Just a shame the sam...

It is hot hot hot!!!

I’m loving Hawaii!!! Had a fab nights sleep in my queen sized bed and a lovely lie in, to then stroll down to the beach and enjoy the glorious sunshine. It was a tough day but I think I worked the lilo well and participated in some hard exercise splashing around in the warm clear sea. I think it was only 30 today but felt a lot hotter sizzling on the beach. Sorry am I making any of you jealous?!? Hope your all ok in sunny England, lol!!
After dragging ourselves away from the beach wh...

Pearl Harbour

So we got up bright and early to go to Pearl Harbour. It was about 30mins from where we are staying and on the way we had to pick up this rather large American who decided she must squeeze to the back seat of this small minibus. Quite entertaining. We arrived at the Harbour and before we were allowed any where we had to put our bags in storage, you know encase we were carrying a bomb. Funny thing is you can take everything out of your bag and carry it in.

Any how, apart from the $3 fee...

I swam with Flipper & then drank the ocean!!

Another early start this morning but this time off to the Sea Life Park to swim with dolphins. It was awesome, brilliant, loved every minute!! They were 3 of us in a group and we had 2 dolphins. We were able to rub their bellies, feed them fish, we had a kiss and gave them a cuddle (you'll have to see the photos when I get home, there amazing!). The best bit by far, was having a dorsal ride. You float in the middle of the pool feet down and arms our and then the two dolphins come up along sid...

Hanging in Hawaii

Well this is going to be so so brief, cos apart from me having a king size hangover and wanting to curl up and die we didn't really do too much.

After sending out an order for bread and crackers and taking a few paracetamols I mustered the strength to get myself down to the beach. Last day and all that had to be done, but thank god for sunglasses.

Still feeling minging and with a really early start tomorrow (got to get up at 5:30am to go to the airport) I had a plain non-greasy...

Days 17 - 20

So......... our relaxation period in Hawaii begins........On Tuesday 13th January we were up at 4am (supposed to be 3:45am), we quickly put clothes on and headed down to check-out, lucky Vegas is 24/7. The flight for Hawaii left at 6am. We were exhausted from the last few late nights so some time out was great, even if it was on a very boring plane flight! Once we were in Hawaii we got soo excited to be in some warmer weather, it was a very nice day, about 25 degrees. We checked into our hote...

Honolulu

We are finally in Honolulu and in our hotel. The view from the plane as we flew in was breathtaking. I took several pictures of the island as our plane touched down. Brent found his way to the Aqua Waikiki Wave by recalling some of the streets he had been down before. We are in the heart of the city and there are people everywhere. There are lots of buildings surrounding us but we are on the 10th floor and can see Diamond Head and the ocean. Our room is clean and it has A/C! :) We walked up a...

Aqua Still Needs Work

from Mr_Keating
Very nice location in Waikiki. About four blocks from the beach and one block from the International Market. The rooms are neat but very basic. We had constant problems with water pressure and temperature in the bathroom. Door locks do not work very well. We had to repeatedly use key card to open the door. One room door would not stay closed and dead bolt lock was broken. The rooms had no hotel information books. There was no info on how to use the phone, what amenities the hotel offered, etc. The air conditioner had two settings - high and off.

What a difference!

from KoloheHawaiian
I've seen this hotel when it was previously managed by a different company. They've recently changed management companies and completely renovated the hotel. What a difference a renovation makes! The lobby and hallways are bright and inviting. Furniture and fixtures are new, with nice flat screen TVs in the room. I really appreciated having complimentary wireless internet access, a great help when there for business. The location, while not ocean front, is very convenient...centrally located, within walking distance to almost anywhere in Waikiki. The staff was also very friendly and accommodating, from the front desk clerk (Frank) to the maintenance man who installed my DVD player (Rick) to the overnight clerk (Joseph) and the Security Guard (sorry, didn't get his name) they all made me feel welcomed and ensured that I was comfortable. I felt very well taken care of. I must say I'm impressed with the job that Aqua has done in turning that property around. Great deal for a reasonable price. I will definately return.

Great Hotel in the HEART of Waikiki

from jkhawaii
I had a wonderful stay at the Aqua Waikiki Wave. There are renovations all over this hotel. The rooms were spacious and very clean, and the friendly staff was full of Aloha. Once you step outside you are right in the middle of all the action in Waikiki. I did have a hard time finding it because the hotel sign is pretty small. It is right across the street from Jack in the Box on Kuhio, and has a 7/11 right next door. I will certainly be coming back to the Aqua Waikiki Wave when I am back in town.

Wonderful little hotel

from oceanrider
I found the Aqua Waikiki Wave rejuvenated, clean, stylish. Those who work there, from front desk to housekeepers to maintenance, were very friendly and helpful. You definitely get the feeling they take great pride in their new little diamond in the midst of Waikiki.

This is a great little property for price and location.

Not bad but some problems

from shanghaiied
dont be fooled by hotwire and travelocity, they rip you, when I went to see how much this hotel was travelocity quoted 107$ plus fees. But when I called them directly it was 99$. Small savings but savings nonetheless.

The hotel is nice, but still with construction going on.

The first rooom we had was over the nightclub so we asked to be moved and they promptly did so. But the staff are rude mainly the women. She just threw the keys at me.

Thee rooms are nice and newly remodelled. wireless free internet was great. The TV is too small, but your not in waikiki to watch TV.

The shower hot. The beds i found comfy. But they provide you with such a thin blanket, even with no aircon I was cold.

Price and location cant be beat. Stafff needs improvement in customer service. Big Chinese restaurant downstairs.

Good Deal. I heard also stay away from aqua palms unless your a jjunkie in need of a fix.

Loved the Wave!

from unitrav
I definitely recommend staying at the Aqua Wave. We had such a great time. The hotel was very clean, the staff was super friendly and they are in a great location. Our room was awsome and we had a great view. If you like being in the middle of all the action, then this is the place! I'll definitely be back. Thanks to everyone at the Aqua Wave for making our stay memorable and fun!

Great hotel with new rooms and wonderful service.

from RIKKENORBY
This is a great property! Stayed here 8 nights from 18th sep-26th and had a great experience from beginning to end.

The newly renovated rooms are very large and very clean with comfortable beds and has a very modern feel. The staff was wonderful and everyone from front desk, housekeeping and maintenance were always very attentative, friendly and helpful with any requests.

Location also great. The beach is just a few minutes walk and shopping, restaurants and nightlife are very close.

We would definetly stay here again and as a t travel Professional I highly recommend it and feel great booking my clients here! In terms of value, service and location this is a great hotel.
