... 8221;Separuh hartaku
kutinggalkan untuk mereka?”

Selang beberapa waktu, datanglah
Mendengar jawaban Abu Bakar, Umar kemudian berkata, ”Demi Allah aku
tidak bisa mengunggulinya dengan apapun selamanya.”....Mr-okt 2009

... at Pappa kafe for a few beers, most of which were bought for me by a kind australian man called Kevin. Later his friend Mark from Detroit turned up who turned out to be rather 'in-your-face' and told us of his adventures on acid in junior high!
Eventually I returned to the hostel and struggled to sleep for much of the night, I woke up at 9am and ventured out to the train station with the intention of travelling to Bandung...

Malls, Motorcycles, and Yummy Meals

... A nice top and a heavy gold leaf necklace. Both of which I planned to wear to the wedding. In addition there are malls that are for the technophiles with stalls and stalls and stores of gadgets for your computer, I-phone, Blackberry, and of course pirated software and movies. Listen Copyright people of America, it is a shame but honestly the war in Asia on copyrighted material is LOST. Give it up and find another way to make money off of the movies. DVD copies with original ...

... small that it also does not ruin the coffee like you may expect. While we were eating breakfast, Lisa and I talked with a guy from Japan and another guy that we had spoken to earlier from Hawaii. Right as we were finishing up breakfast, he mentioned that he was in dire straits over his computer problems. As a writer in the medical anthropology field, a computer was very important to him, so I offered to help. It turns out his hard disk was fried, so I said we ...

Indonesia - it's big.

... This undoubtedly well-meant remark left me deeply suspicious of the Javanese. It turns out that, although the Botanical Gardens are indeed peaceful, they are the only peaceful thing about a city that, in all other respects, is very Indonesian. Huge, gridlocked roads, constant noise, the call to prayer every morning at 4.30am, chickens, cars honking, more chickens - it was all go. So, whatever we might say about Afif, he is ...

Bogor, Java

... Our great plans were saved for the rest three days in Indonesia. The plan was to reach Carita Beach in the very West coast of Java. And to see Krakatau too. We went to the Bogor bus station in the morning and asked around whether there is a bus to Labuang, near Carita. We were directed to a bus that said Pl.Ratu and after checking out the location from few more guys we sat on the bus. Don't stillknow what went wrong.. see the next entry for our adventure. Nora

... facial at the spa costs RM160! Lunch was at a West Java or Sunda restaurant. Gamaliel absolutely loved the sambal belacan and was happily eating away. He had bandrek - a hot ginger drink - and loved that too. A dip in the pool which I could see from my room and was most of the time empty then we were off at night to JW Marriott. We met Dr Andre, a fit looking chap, who treated us for dinner.

Arrival in Jakarta

... have maids in their homes though who look after their kids and do all their washing and cooking etc. Everyone at PATTIRO is really nice. The office is quite big and air condiditoned and I've got a desk and computer with internet access so it's pretty nice. They have about 15 members of staff here who flit in and out and then 10 other offices around Indonesia so it's a pretty well developed organisation. They have taken quite a lot of time to show me around and they've paid for my ...

... we crossed the river from Felix's house to the other side where the jungle begins, it took us three hours to get here. With our guides, Wanda and Mbra, and two cooks, Amun and Rudy, we carried six days' worth of clothes, food and supplies on our backs. Our goal is to find and count orangutan nests, as well as track a wild orangutan if we're lucky enough to find one--they are very shy and stay high up in the canopy, so they're difficult to spot. When we're ...

Got Milk?

... sight along the way - about twenty men crowded rather formally around a pond about ten metres by ten metres, intently watching their fishing poles which were set up in holders. I guess bamboo sticks are kind of heavy, and you probably want to leave your hands free for other important tasks like nose picking and ball-scratching. All in all, it didn't look real sporting, but since I haven't been able to find out the whole story I can't say for sure. Maybe ...
