... steep climbs before the end of the day's ride, we passed another solo-cyclist pushing his heavily-laden touring bike uphill, and an hour or so later he stopped and checked into the same accommodation. He was from Darwin and was spending a couple of months cycling round Bali and Java and had a real adventurous approach to his travels. His only map was of the whole of Indonesia, which only showed major roads, and he would just pick a major town or city as his next destination ...

... by more cloud and haze. Well, early in the mornng we can often see the mountains before the haze comes in. In fact, I can even see the plumes of smoke and poisonous cloud spewing out of Mount Tangkuban Perahu which I've been notified of by the Canadian Consulate - advising me to stay at least 1.5km away from it. Well, that's kind of cool that I can see dense, white clouds coming out of the earth behind mountains so I can't even see the actual volcano.
