Anchoring off the small island of Orak

We elected to head back to Turkey for one last look at the beautiful coast there before ending our trip in Bodrum. Captain Guner selected Orak, which is a small island just off the coast that he says is very popular in summertime. There were still several boats there that came and went during the 24 hours that we were there, plus there was an ice-cream boat that came along and sold ...

... a wall from an energy standpoint. I was deflated with my recurring sore muscle problem, and all of the Goodners were a little cranky after being on a boat for 2.5 weeks. It may not sound like a tough challenge (and it isn't), but constant togetherness in a confined space (even one that's 78 feet) can create a feeling of claustrophobia after a while. ... but lots of fun. After the ride, we headed back to our hotel for lunch by the pool and a relax on those amazing day beds. We headed into Bodrum a bit earlier tonight to make sure we were in time to watch the sunset. It was so beautiful against all of the boats in the Marina. We had promised the kids time to shop, but they were first much more keen toy play on the outdoor gym equipment! So we spent an hour at that ...

    Discovering the ruins of Knidos

We made a quick stop in Knidos, since the winds were still high and we couldn't stay overnight here. Knidos had a couple of claims to fame: it was the home of one of the inventors of geometry, and it has some of the best ruins on the Turkish coast from over 2000 years ago. Despite the winds, Captain Guner managed to moor us for a couple of hours in the bay so that we could see the old footprints of homes and buildings, fallen columns ...
