... hat sich mal jemand gedacht, ein Monument zu Ehren der Sprache Afrikaans zu bauen (warum auch immer) und tat dies in Paarl. Außerdem ist Paarl dafür bekannt, dass Nelson Mandela da die letzten 2 Jahre seiner Gefangenschaft verbracht hat, nachdem man ihn von Robben Island dahin gebracht hatte. Seine ersten Schritte als freier Mann hat er also in Paarl gemacht. Aber das nur so am Rande, wir waren eher an der Natur interessiert!

Parfois, j'ai l'impression que nous pourrions être en France ou au Canada, si ce n'est pas pour les jacarandas. Les gens disent que l'Afrique du Sud a "baissé" ... et bien, je me demande s’ils ont voyagé plus au Nord, où tant de choses ne fonctionnent pas, où les Noirs vivent dans des conditions terribles, où les routes ont des nids de poule partout et les magasins n'ont pas beaucoup d'articles ... etc !
