      ... couple of hours to walk the streets at our leisure before being picked up and taken to lunch. Izmir, third largest city in Turkey, some interesting sights sounds and smells. Followed by s buffet style lunch, there seems to be a pattern forming....and then on towards Ayvaik and the Grand Hotel ...

      ... ancient sights that could be picked out on the hills. If we had more time it would have been interesting to walk between and around the small villages, but we need to keep moving. The houses in yjis atea are low and made if large stones, they remind us if the ones in Tibet, the farmers seem to mostly have goats, not slot else would find enough grazing in the scrubby landscape. The farmers have built large round animal shelters out if boulders ...

      ... borrow a couple of chairs and a small table and watch people pottering around. A man probably in his 40's stopped to talk to us, he works for Turkish Airlines and spoke good English, we chatted about the UK, which he knew all the airports! And our travel plans, he told us if we needed anything just ask as he was about all evening.
      In the evening there was a party and disco close by,it was still going on as we went to bed, but fortunately it wasn't too loud and finished around ...

      ... and sugar and formed into blocks, we chose the chocolate one. We set off north heading for our next stop, we climbed quite high into the hills, we passed quite a few picnic sites along the way, but opted for a spot on a wide pull of at the top of the windy road.       ... a population of 250,000. It was worthwhile spending extra to visit some newly discovered terrace houses lived in by the rich. They were under cover and very well displayed so you could see the intricate mosaic floors and the comforts they enjoyed - like under floor heating!
