    Lovely place to stay

    A very lovely hotel with a very spacious room and stunning views of the mountains surrounding Takayama. However the restaurants here very expensive.

    Today we said goodbye to Hakone and headed off to Takayama.

    We caught a bus to Odawara train station and then boarded a Shinkansen (bullet train) to Nagoya. Top speed of the train was 275kph. Im really impressed with how smooth the ride was. As the weather was fine we got another chance to see Mt Fuji as the train zoomed by.

    ... miso, fish and raw egg. I don't feel like I missed much to be honest. In Takayama we visited a folk village with examples of all kinds of different traditional houses from the 17th and 18th centuries. The biggest thing that struck me was how smoky everywhere smelt.
