... i consider Thailand an amazing and beautiful country. The people are lovely and i must say the sunsets over the ocean are a must-see. Never have i seen the sky so red, blazing over the ocean as the sun set down over the horizon.

Booked a couple of tours as they were extremely cheap. Took a 45 minute elephant ride on a female elephant named Sinjai. I was even lucky enough to ride behind the ears where the guides ...
Ban Patong, Phuket, Thailand mjg008... a earlier bus, but in reality it was only 30 mins earlier than the original bus you bought a ticket for. We caught the bus into Phuket along with the people who didn't buy the 200 baht ticket and at the end of the ride we were dumped off in the middle of no where (which was one of their travel agencies, you could then buy a ticket for 200 baht to get to Patong from them) whether you had a ticket to Patong ...
Phuket, Thailand big_hans... go as i'll be home next week. So dont worry Jackster, you wont die from the boredom of having to read them and then i will be home and my usual ladylike self.....! Love Sal & Ros XXX PS - To all those who may have been wondering, we have been chatted up which is highly unusual for white girls of a certain age in Thailand. Unfortunately the 2 "gentlemen" in question were Gunther and Horst, from Germany. And yes - they looked like what you would imagine!
Patong, Phuket, Thailand sallypoff... bit of culture down me. Luckily there was a festival on, the vegitarian festival presides over a week and combines buddhist gods, millions upon millions of firecrackers, firewalking, climbing stairs made of swords (im being serious!) and daily parades through the town centre where thai's would let off millions of firecrackers and carry round deities on elevated stretchers to various wat's (sacred temples) dotted ...
Phuket, Thailand stewelee... conversations and the floor boards are so bad that someone walking past your door sounds like a marching army. On our first night there one of the backpackers managed to let some prostitutes and their pimp into the hostel where they commandeered an empty dorm room, talked very loudly for ages and then tried to strike a price with the idiot who let them in. He managed to get them out eventually - I think it cost him a few Baht though. Nothing else to say about Phuket ...
Phuket, Thailand marietherese... been lost with the millions of flocking tourists. We spent some time snorkeling in the bay feeding pretzels to the swarming fish and then we stopped over at Monkey Beach to take pictures of the posing monkeys swinging from the trees. Then, after a satisfying lunch of Phad Thai, we set out to climb the east mountain to watch the sunset. The climb was a bit more than expected, but it was the hike back that had us all breathing heavy. We ...
Ko Phi Phi, Thailand amwiley... s eat it. The locals will eat a noodle soup for breakfast that can melt iron. I've found the spice to be exciting in your mouth, but not at all spicy in your stomach. This makes it posiblke for me to keep upping the level of the spice every time I order something and not have to suffer for it. The heat of the food actually cools you off. BTW, it has been around 92 degrees every day with ...
Patong, Thailand gage... more than we budgeted for the entire year. We are really feeling the financial pinch, so having to pay for an unexpected eight days of $389 per night Marriott lodging has been a shock. A burger here costs $15. In the villa, we coped with high food costs by cooking ourselves, eating a lot of pasta with red sauce. During our week in the hotel without a kitchen, we resorted to a more desperate expedient -- peanut butter sandwiches. At ...
Phuket, Thailand oneyearawaySaying farewell to the tour, I caught a free shuttle bus to my home for the next 2 nights. The Patong Merlin. Right in the heart of Patong beach and party town. It was a shame that I was so sick to do anything! I checked in and headed straight to the pool, where I spent the rest of the day relaxing. Swimming in one of the three pools, with palm trees swaying and the sun shining and working on the tan. I did manage a short walk along the markets ...
